this is almost painful to watch... Geraldo is trying to be all buddy with them, and you can just tell what they're thinking... Geraldo put his hand on one soldier's shoulder, and the soldier looked over at Geraldo's hand and then looked straight into the camera rather than make eye contact with Jerry

Geraldo is always painful to watch ... even without the troops.

Am I glad to hear this! Some people had Geraldo as the soldier's best friend and I found it hard to believe from everyone I knew in the military that couldn't stand him.

I hope this experience has a deeper impact on him than many claimed 9-11 did.

He very well could be experiencing the kind of humiliation that will do his soul good.

Just imagine, a humble Jerry Rivers.

Did you hear about the report that Keith Olbermann made regarding members of the 101st requesting to shake Geraldo's hand after placing them in disgusting places. Olbermann made quite a bit of an attack out it and my guess is that the soldiers were in a bit of hot water over the incident and ordered to be filmed with Geraldo.

LOL!!! A humble Jerry Rivers? Never happen! The man doesn't know the meaning the word humble!

Geraldo morphs into whatever he thinks sells!

As much as I dislike Geraldo, I believe he truly supports the troops and wants to be identified with them. I actually feel rather sorry for him in this.

Yes, he was stupid and used bad judgment with his sand drawing. However, I do not put him in the class of Peter Arnett who was doing his best to hurt our troops. Geraldo was just dumb. He let his determination to play "Mr. Big Man" ruin his judgment.

Just imagine, a humble Jerry Rivers.

That's about as tough as imagining a celibate Bubba Clinton.

This guy he is interviewing is even more windy! can't stand either of them. Geraldo seems to be off his normal self and struggling. It is very painful to watch.

Geraldo came to Parris Island around 1978-'79 to do a story on USMC recruit training. Got a boot hair cut, did a lot of recruit things, e.g., obstacle course, close order drill, PT, etc. with the privates. Lot of my Lieutenant buddies thought he was a "real stand up guy". Then he went on the TV with his 'special' and really slammed our training. It would not have been safe for him to pay a return visit to PI. He would have needed a medevac.

It's hard to choose.  One of them was Saddam's
bag man and the other Clinton's colostomy bag.

I'm 26. My first memories of Geraldo/Jerry are of him getting his nose broken by a chair weilded by some KKK member on some sleazy talk show he hosted. This was years after the Al Capone vault fiasco. Geraldo always has, and always will be, a total joke.

Apart from his rapes, Clinton's escapades usually ended with a visit to the Oval Office sink or George Stephanopolis's office trash can. I don't think celebacy is the right word to use. Maybe an "absence of deviancy" would be more appropriate.

I remember Rivera in the 70's when he worked for the ABC local news in New York. He was a grandstanding SOB then and still is now.

He is only there because he works for FOX.

The trot over to the pool-house was like pulling teeth-not a single hoot or hollar from any of the soldiers.

This is kind of embarrassing, isn't it? The troops are stone-faced and Whorealdo interacts more with the studio heads than the people around him.
