this is almost painful to watch... Geraldo is trying to be all buddy with them, and you can just tell what they're thinking... Geraldo put his hand on one soldier's shoulder, and the soldier looked over at Geraldo's hand and then looked straight into the camera rather than make eye contact with Jerry

I hope this experience has a deeper impact on him than many claimed 9-11 did.
He very well could be experiencing the kind of humiliation that will do his soul good.
Just imagine, a humble Jerry Rivers.

I'm 26. My first memories of Geraldo/Jerry are of him getting his nose broken by a chair weilded by some KKK member on some sleazy talk show he hosted. This was years after the Al Capone vault fiasco. Geraldo always has, and always will be, a total joke.

I remember Rivera in the 70's when he worked for the ABC local news in New York. He was a grandstanding SOB then and still is now.
He is only there because he works for FOX.

The trot over to the pool-house was like pulling teeth-not a single hoot or hollar from any of the soldiers.

I didn't see the cold shoulder, just soldiers being professional. Most likely being up all night on watch.
I didn't like the fact he showed the grounds of the other guys sleeping. Anyone could lob a grenade or several over the wall. I just wish he would use some forethought on his shows.

I am not a Geraldo fan, but this is painful and nothing like the recent reception he received from the troops in Afghanistan.

I will add my voice to the (not giving cold shoulder ranks).
These guys are just dead serious and tense. I would be too. Especially with all the commanders and top dawgs hanging around.

Gerible blew his very last chance. After years of kissing Klintoons @ss, he decided to get 'patriotic' in front of the camera, post 9/11.
It worked for a while, it even got him a gig with FOX. Then he drew some diagrams in the sand. He would have been better off keeping that finger in his pocket.
I guess the only place left for him is the Home Shopping Network.

I noticed the awkwardness between Geraldo and the troops even before the lines in the sand business. The military is basically a conservative organization and many in the military are wise to Geraldo. Contrast the cold-shoulder treatment received by Geraldo to the genuine respect accorded to Oliver North. Everybody "sirs" him to death and and it apparent that Ollie is truly seen as "one of them."
I never liked Geraldo. I've met his type before. He's your basic disingenous back-slapping used car salesman type who will be your "best buddy in the world" until he gets what he wants out of you. Then it's on to the next sucker.

I disagree. I thought he did just fine, and everyone he talked to responded just like always

One of the few bad decisions that FOX made was not canning him when he got loose with the troop movement details that got him un-embedded. He is much too full of himself. I cant believe FOX hired him in the first place.

Geraldo has been anti soldier and anti veteran since vietnam when he was a flaming liberal and anti american Gerry was and is a full blown liberal
IMO Gerry saw his career dissipation like blinking and realized that the new frontier was conservatives and fox ...he jumped ship...and became a born again psuedo conservative...and with war looming...
Found it profitable for him to be "for the military" but he isnt ...he is decidedly pro Geraldo
PT Barnum was a better journalist..Everyshow is about Geraldo...Geraldo is the focus...
He got back on because FOXNews is pro Bush and pro Iraqi War...Bush owes Fox and Fox calls in a favor to the state dept..Fox is pro US Military...
Geraldo whines and cries and bitches until he gets back with the 101...Geraldo enjoys being able to one up the 101...and they gotta hate him for it....
I do...I dont forget what he did to Vietnam vets and MIA/POWs
Or His defense of the first rapist...and other liberal causes...
Hopefully that little plick falls outof a blackhawk and breaks both his legs...
One can only hope....
Meanwhile the troops that fished into their trousers for a going away present for Geraldo last time...well....next time I hope they find his toothbrush...
He is a shameless self promoter...and a user...
Rupert must see himself himself 50 yrs ago in Geraldo is all I can figure...

Come on folks, I can't help but think Geraldo genuinely wants to support the troops. He's got a massive ego, but he's no worse in that regard than O'Reilly.
