Has Hannity 86ed David Hackworth
My fertile mind | 4/1/03 | Me

Has Sean Hannity axed his daily updates by Col. Hackworth?

If not he should. I would bet good money he is the unnamed Col. calling Rumsfeld "McNamarra Redux" cited in The New York Times, and questioning the war srategy. He has shown his disdain for Rummy in the recent past. But I bet he didn't go into detail unless under the condition of anonimoty with the times in order to preserve his talk show circuit gig during the war. He seeks relevancy when his time is long past. He hasn't served since Vietman. He has been long been a critic of the brass at the pentagon going back to Desert Storm. Possibly due to his retirement without stars on his shoulders. He was outspoken on his opposition to the war for strategic reasons. He said that our troops lacked proper training for chem and bio-warfare. The attack has far too well for him as he has been proven wrong over and over again.

Hackworth is a hack.

Hackworth's opinion is alot less valueable as a long-retired colonel than that of a more recently-retired general. Given the recent downsizing of the military, there are alot of unemployed former generals who can give more recent and insightful military analysis than Hackworth.

Hackworth needed a gimmick to stay noteworthy on the air and the anti-Rumsfeld line was marketable.

Once again, substance and knowledge overrule style and spin. Hopefully, Hannity saw through it because people need real insight and data, not more spin.

Hackworth saw combat in Korea and Vietnam. He entered the Army a buck private and left it a bird colonel. Damn few can approach that sort of claim. He may be a self-serving embarrassment these days (plenty of those around, unfortunately), but there was a time when he braved bullets for us, too.

When I first read About Face a long time ago, my chief criticism of it was that Hackworth's military world was filled with only two kinds of serviceman: soldier's soldier or complete idiot.

It seemd that when the fur flew and people started digging into the bad, he needed somebody out there that would point to him as the good.

I wonder where the term came from? While in college I worked in a resturant. They used the term to let us know they'd run out of certain items.

I think Fox has "HACKED" him, he always seems to be on that stupid Larry King show every night.

Okay, let's get the facts straight. Gay is a word that was never meant to describe a queer. Somebody somewhere attached that name to describe the effeminate behavior of many of these people. Unfortunately, we can't have it back.

In Greenwhich Village, NYC ( a long time ago), Homosexuals hung out in droves by a street named "Gay". It still exists today.

If you have a dollar, a retired colonel will fetch you a cup of coffee at the Pentagon.

You know, I'm really getting tired of this back-biting and treachery by Hack and other officers (un-named sources of course) pulling this crap during wartime. I'm starting to feel the slow burn whenever "Americas most decorated living combat veteran" does his part to degrade the morale of the troops serving. If he really cared about these troops he'd keep his mouth shut.

Speaking of "America's most highly decorated combat veteran", how do we know we don't have another Eugene Boorda? 54 posted on 04/01/2003 2:57 PM PST by x1stcav (HooAhh!)

First, X1stcav, I'd like to remind you (or perhaps inform you) that Admiral Boorda had every right to wear the medals that he supposedly committed suicide over - because Clintoon's goons were coming after him.

Recently the finding of the commission that investigated Boorda and his medals disaproved the rumors that he did not deserve to wear the medals that he did. He most certainly did. HooRahh back at ya!

My brother, a Master Chief in the Navy, worked for Boorda, and was disgusted by how Boorda was treated and devastated over his death.

About retired Military Officers. I think it is Clark (Army) and McCaffrey (also Army) of CNN and pMSNBC, respectively, who are the ones who are attacking Rummy and the "warplans". They are retired Army who don't like the fact that Rummy has cut the part that the Army has to play waaaaaaaay back, and in the future, their role will be cut even more. Clark and McCaffrey have been outspoken and borderline insubordinate of the Military command, including Rumsfeld and Gen. Myers.

I know, I know, - can't be insurbordinate if you are not active duty. Okay but they should shut their darn pieholes, now that war has started. They do nothing to change what is really happening in theatre, and second-guessing only hurts. If you'd like to know why, listen to the complete text of Gen. Myers rant today. I couldn't have agreed with him more. It begins and ends with the premise - "there is nothing helpful or useful about those comments". Amen.

No, I wasn't aware of the board of inquiries conclusion. Thanks for clearing that up.

My mention of Boorda wasn't directed at him (or the Navy) so much as I've heard Hack referred to as the most highly decorated etc. etc. Who says? I'm going to find out in any event.

I agree with you completely as to where this discord is emanating. It is within the Army ranks and I agree also that it needs to stop.

Try the most decorated LIVING soldier from Vietnam.....Try looking up Robert L. Howard.

You're just falling for his marketing.

No disrespect to his service/sacrifice, but he comes off as a guy who's taken one too many hits from the skull-head water bong......

Well, he was on CNN tonight shooting his d*mn mouth off. He's an embarrassment.

Of course, he was followed by Walter Cronkite, who sounded equally ludicrous.

What kind of a forum are you people running over here?

I looked at your post history (wasn't hard, it only goes back a couple of weeks), and you aren't even a good enough liar to make your posts believable. And the above statement just drives the point home.

Go back to DUh, and surround yourself with the "vast majority" of people who oppose this war. After all, that's why we're there, right? Because the ""vast majority" of people in this country oppose this war?.....

When we can't even take control of a country that is no larger than California then something is wrong. We are suppose to have all kinds of technology and other equipment and all they have is worn out equipment that is years old and we still drag this war on.

"Woe, woe! The war has been dragging on for nearly two weeks now - all is lost, all is lost!"
