Conservatives 'fed up' with protesters (Free Republic prominently mentioned!)

Dozens of flag-waving rallies for American troops in Iraq look like spontaneous, grass-roots gatherings. But many are orchestrated by conservative political groups, just as anti-war protests are led by peace groups and activists on the political left.

Rallies for the troops took place this weekend in cities and towns including New York, San Francisco, Miami, Cleveland, Honolulu, Jacksonville, Concord, N.H., Harrisburg, Pa., and Kingsport, Tenn. More rallies are expected.

Nice quotes, Bob.

It's well worth reminding people that many of the leftists who now claim they "support the troops" spat on returning Vietnam vets a generation ago. Their loathing of the American military hasn't lessened an iota -- they've just upgraded their marketing.

Has USA Today done any reporting on who organizes and pays for anti-war rallies?

Good question.

I tend to doubt it...

Overall fair article and they didn't twist my words.

AS far as the leftists, now that they have all that international communist money, they're hiring Madison Avenue to "fix" they're image. Look for plenty of "we hate the war but love our troops" yada yada.

Well done, FRN - and huge thanks to Glen Beck and to all who have had a part in the Pro-America rallies. It should be time for others in our communities to step forward and take the lead and lets get some gigantic rallies together. Americans are hungering and thirsting to have a chance to cheer for our Troops - and might participate if we can get some major sponsors, etc. to help out. Only reason is that businesses who want to be with what 84% of the American public support should be asked to step forward and take a stand like they do in many "causes" which they link their names to. Whatdya think?

...just as anti-war protests are led by peace groups and activists on the political left.

Correction:
...led by international Communist/Anarchist/Anti-Capitalist/Anti-USA activists...

There!, that is more truthful.

I PERSONALLY know the organizers of the Clifton Park New York rally. They were not Freepers (unfortunately) and they did not work with Glenn Beck or anyone else. It was TRULY a grassroots effort. This writer doesn't know what sshe is talking about. I can say, because I know that the writer must be intentionally LYING about this to attempt to have some sort of story. Shameful journalism.

CLIFTON PARK, NY- Pro-Troop Rally a huge success, 10,000 patriots attend!

Interesting isn't it, how descript they are with their well indoctrinated use of the pejorative 'conservative', but when it comes to the true description of the 'political left' they don't use the opposite and true definition of those who pretend peace, COMMUNISTS and SOCIALISTS. Why don't they say "as many anti-war protests are led by communist fronts and other hate-America organizations on the political left"?

Sponsored by Right Wing Political Groups? Right.

Go here - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/880284/posts - to see the reports from our Sierra Vista AZ Support the Troops Rally that was sponsored by...The Salvation Army. Are they considered Right Wing, now?

I'm not really visible here, but my flag is the highest flying in the group. I brought my 20' flagpole from home in order to fly both the US and Army flags.

This is the group standing outside the Main Gate to Ft. Huachuca. The participants lined the main drag of Sierra Vista from the Main Gate to the Veteran's Memorial Park, over 2 miles away. And the residents of our little (40,000) town created a second rally, cruising up and down the main drag honking their horns and waving their own American flags.

Credit FReeper AZHSer for taking the pics, and FReeper Spiff for posting them!

I know exactly what you are saying. I'm almost (99%) sure the same could be said about the rally that was held in Dover, DE yesterday.

Reading the 2 main dailies in this state this morning you would think they covered 2 entirely different events. The local Dover paper devoted the entire front page and a full inside page to articles and pictures. The leftist Gannett-owned rag from the largest city in the state had a small article on page 4 about it.

Obviously not all the pro-America rallies are working with FR or the FR Network, but a significant number have -- over 100 last weekend, for example.

I still smell and spell communism exactly the same way I smell and spelled it in the 60's. Can't blame the leftists for trying to couch their rhetoric in pablum, but the sheep that eat it up as if it was porterhouse on the grill, are the ones who ought to attend the twobyfour seminar training until they get it, if getting it is possible for those so blind they are willing to swallow the emotional while blissfully ignoring the facts so obvious you have to be an ignorant moron to reach the unreachable conclusions that drive them to their anti-american conclusions. /rant off.

Even leftists are embarrassed, I mean, what right thinking person wouldn't? It would be like having demonstrations all around the country with the most grotesquely extreme right wing elements of our party saying they represent me. It would be very humiliating. My business neighbor, a gay, liberal .... very liberal told me yesterday she was shocked at the behavior of the protestors. She even wants to have a rally in our busibess neighborhood. Bring yellow ribbons, etc. But I feel uncomfortable having a rally in my business neighborhood and mixing those two things. It makes me queasy. Anyone understand what I mean?
