Found out about this rally the middle of last week by an announcement posted by guinnessboy. Then I mass e-mailed some local New Hampshire patriots and we managed to get six people to head down to Medford, MA to rally for America. There was something very enticing to us about attending one of these rallies in the heart of LiberalLand!

Arrived in Medford Square with a van full of posters and flags at around 9.30am. There was already a fair size crowd gathered there of maybe 10 people. We brought extra signs and stakes (and a heavy duty stapler) in case any passers-by wanted to join in.
We just immediately started waving our flags and posters. And the response from drivers-by was tremendous! Not sure how it happened (since I was standing fairly close to the curb) but every time I turned around, there were more people adding to our number. Little by little, people were taking up signs and joining in our slogan-chanting.
When we first arrived, there were probably only two "anti"s standing out on the island in the middle of Medford Square. Eventually (and unfortunately), their numbers picked up, as well -- I would say somewhere between 10 and 20 at their highest number. They pretty much owned *one* of the seven or so corners, but we didn't care, because the Patriots had "claimed" most of the corners and were cheerfully standing on them and waving their flags. Passing cars were honking, giving the thumbs-up, and waving their own flags. Was this really the Boston area?
But there was one woman in her 50s or early 60s dressed in all black holding an "Oppose Global War" sign. She riled us up by coming over onto our "pro America" turf and standing right among us. This woman wasn't even American, she was either northern English or Scottish; I didn't talk to her long enough to figure it out, but during our very short but rather spirited debate, she tried to convince us that she "voted for Bush" but she was not at all believable. She was obviously a professional Leftist protester, probably leftover from the sixties.
Anyway, when she first came over, she marched over to us with her entire face pursed in a sort of defiant manner. A few people got into her face (she definitely invited it) about what they thought of her opinion. I was carrying a sign that said "War Stopped Hitler" (which I knew the Massachusetts lefties would just love) and she looked at it and spat out the words, "Bush is Hitler." I think I probably laughed out loud at that point!
Then she started expressing her concern about "all the other countries in the world are mad at us and against the war." I told her that if we decided to start listening to the rest of the world, we might become just like them. Not sure if she heard that, tho, since her very presence was needling everyone there and, all wanted a turn debating her apparent naivete.
We had a few episodes of chanting. We sang God Bless America a couple times. We said the Pledge of Allegiance a couple of times. We chanted rather heartily "War Stopped Hitler" and "God Bless Bush."
One of guinnessboy's friends (didn't catch his name) had some very funny signs. The one that doubled me over into fits of laughter was "Patriots rock, Hippies smell"....(ROF!!!)
We also met cheesel (I think that's it) who was very nice and happy to be out there supporting America. We also met Lev (who also seemed nice) at the end of the rally, but we didn't get to talk much since one of our party had double-parked the van for us to reload at that time. Maybe cheesel, guinnessboy, Lev or whoever else was in Medford this morning will add to this report.
Sorry -- that's all I can remember right now!

Hey Guys,
It was great FReeping with you this morning. Maybe one or all of you can add to this report...
To: NH Liberty
NH cheese and Lev thanks so much again, shall we do it again? Every Saturday I am up for our rallies, I'm getting addicted to it!
To: guinnessboy
Yeah, it was fun -- it was great to get so much support out there, as well!
Maybe next week we should try Harvard Square...(LOL!)
To: NH Liberty
Well done. Got photos?
To: guinnessboy
BTW, did you read my FReep Report? Whaddya think of it?
Maybe you and your friends could add some of your experiences from the day???
To: A Navy Vet
Sorry, Navy...I don't have a digital camera. I did take one or two photos but I'll have to wait to get them developed. Other people were taking photos, though, so maybe somebody else will post some.

Great job -- I especially like the "War Stopped Hitler" chant you used on the ageing commie.

Excellent, Excellent NH, my additions would be that Donna is the founder of our gathering. She is the woman with the Glasses, the large American Flag, and her fine patriotic teenage participants. We have been doing this now for two months and today was the best one yet.
We had Uncle Sam on board that gave a Jackie Chan drop kick to the nuke carrying terrorist, the burning of the French flag posterboard, and lively debates with the liberals. Let me tell you, our liberals are a very sorry lot. We had a gentleman stop in the middle of the road trying to hand out American flag stickers to us. A telephone worker used his PA system from his van to ward off the war protesters (that was the best). My favorite motorist reaction to the anti war protester was "hey buddy your sign says no war in Iraq, but there is a war in Iraq, you're a little late."
Always ask the liberals if/and what they drive, and call them on the war for oil argument, they hate to hear that they are a contradiction to their fables. Also when they say $$$ for books not bombs, they are talking about your and my money because a tax on nothing = nothing. They hate that one too. I guess my favorite one to really tweak them is:
Historic Irony:
Anti-War=
the biggest threat
to peace and democracy
They hate that one. Any how I felt euphoric leaving the square this morning, we have made a huge accomplshment today. Not only that, at least 90% of the people driving through loved us out there, pat yourself on the back for making those peoples day! All the vets that pass through especially love it. I will be actively holding our rallies or attending others until the last war protester drops.
Wasnt it funny how all the war protesters leave right at noon, like they are punching a clock? I know they are getting paid to be there, its so fake, and they hate that we have imagination, fun and a sense of purpose out there. Look for us on the news tonight and spread the word!

EEEEEKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!! the belly of the beast! Porter square was bad enough last week! I will combat them were ever they sliver. I was thinking we can pull it off in Davis square big time. I would love to have a large gathering in Boston perhaps Coply sq or park street. The high profile places with traffice turnover are the best, if you pay close attention, medford square is kind of built on a rotary. Some of the people driving through make 2 or three passess to cheer us on!!!!!

Super job you guys!
To: guinnessboy
Congratulations to all who participated! My husband and I will be in Boston for marathon weekend (he's running), and it will be interesting to see what kind of protests are planned (depending, of course, on the status of military operations in Iraq). I may have to take markers and poster board, just in case.
To: guinnessboy
Let me add that when I walked home from the square I was flipped off and told to go back to france by two people, ok ok so I was wearing a black beret, but it had an American Flag pin in it, I'll know better next time-LOL
To: guinnessboy
Oh, yeah! I forgot about some of that -- like the guy in the slow- moving van using his van P.A. system to announce LOUDLY in the middle of square: "God bless America," "God bless our troops!" "God bless George W. Bush!" That was excellent. The Commies hated it and the vets LOVED it!
Also forgot about the guy in the red, white and blue sequined Uncle Sam suit... Fantastic!
That's why it's good for all of us to post what we remember -- we all remember different things!

These days you dont know when or where you might find yourself in the midst of these vile protesters. Its better to have a gun and not need one than to need a gun and not have one (figure of speech). Lets just say I keep my fishing tackle in my trunk if I should happen to drive by a nice pond or lake in my travels sometimes. Yev, whom did not make it this weekend, has a sign he made out of a pillow case. he stapled it to two dowels and can retract it and wear it on his belt. this is very handy for subway travel in the city when you want to keep in conspicuous.
To: NH Liberty
Darn it! I knew you guys were Freepers. Only Freepers would use slogans like that!
I drove by from the rotary, you guys were on the left light mostly, I got you confused for the anti-morons because usually that's where they stand -almost gave the finger like I usually do, but then I saw the signs closer and aborted the finger missiles > :^-)
Please PING me when this happens again. Do you go every Saturday?
To: aristotleman
Yes, they've been doing it every week for the past two months, but today was the first day we went down.
It was reeeally enjoyable. We might go down again next week, but we're just not sure.
Definitely get yourself and your friends down there next Saturday morning. You'll have a great laugh and you'll be supporting the good ol' U.S. A.
