We have a base of operations in Qatar, built during the last year that made the the Saudies irrevelant to the war.
I guess they finally smelled the coffee. LOL

I would say Iraq, Saudi Arabia...and according to the latest book Newsmax is selling..China was also involved. Iraq: No doubt about it. Saddam has blood fued with the US.
SA: I doubt the Government per se was involved in 9-11, but rogue elements within the Government, and probably within the Mosques, probably including members of the "royal family", very likely were involved.
China: Hmmmmm. I have difficulty with a direct involvement of the government. Surely they are involved in arms proliferation and other nefarious activities to undermine the west. In that sense, they are in the same leage as North Korea, Cuba, and a few others who are interested in spreading Marxism. But they have WAY too much to lose with a direct involvement. Rogue elements within, perhaps.
PS: The Bush administration has been playing this masterfully, holding back on releaseing the damning intel while giving Saddam the rope with which he will hang himself.

From what I remember, the story from a few weeks ago was that Saudi would let us use their bases for an attack on Iraq if the attack was U.N.-approved. I'm not saying that with 100% certainty, but that's how I remember it.

Just as every painting is not the

Saudi's took stock and threw their chips on "W".
The Iraqi War result is settled, pray God our casulties will be small.

Oil is black, so I'd call this counter-blackmail. I like what happens when a man not a MINO is in the White House.

AMen (#10) - where are all the old headlines - posted on FR - saying Saudi Arabia to not cooperate in any way with war with Iraq? Oh my.

Oh goody, we can use the bases. Thanks, its too bad we already had to build a duplicate elsewhere. Let's station 100,000 troops and an armored unit there to ensure our partnership continues to proper.
The Saudis are obviously reading the wind drift. I somehow doubt this is going to save them.

C'mon....31 posts and nobody has posted the obligatory:
"All your bases are belong to us"
yet?
(well, it actually makes sense here, I guess)

We could land on their ass if we wanted, what could they do about it?
More carrier groups is a better answer.
We can make US soil & take it where & when we want to dole out much needed behavior mod..

I think the Bush Administration probably just told the House of Saud that we were going to use the bases whether they liked it or not.Be great to hear Bush say that with his white hat on.

I'd love to see that as well.
