Its amazing what a few adults in the White House (with spines) can accomplish. I guess the didn't want to be "against us". But something tells me that some alarming intel was either gathered recently, or was released to a few folks for consumption. Can't wait to hear what it is....

Could it have been this?

" Senator: At Least One Foreign Country Assisted the 9/11 Terrorists "

What would Saudi Arabia done if we just used the bases anyways?
I think the Bush Administration probably just told the House of Saud that we were going to use the bases whether they liked it or not.

The Saudis have been badly shaken by the American backlash against them, discovering to their horror that most of us hate the treacherous sand pigs as much as I do. Completely defenseless without US protection, the Saudis have glimpsed their future apart from us. Oh, well. Their bases will come in handy next month, but I'm still disappointed they've decided not to cut their own throats.

Just more proof that when President Bush speaks, he is believed around the world.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal indicated in a weekend interview that Saudi Arabia, the main launchpad in the 1991 Gulf War, would again allow the use of bases on its soil to attack Iraq should such action win full UN backing.

Shouldn't that read "with" full UN backing instead of "win" full UN backing.
I believe this latest news from Saudi Arabia is that they will allow use of the bases no matter what the UN thinks about it.

Your # 4 is right on the money!

Sen. Graham wasn't just flapping his jaws when he made his comment that one or two foreign governments aided and abetted the 9/11 terrorists, adding that the names of the countries won't be announced right now.

Ooooo, I love the smell of righteous blackmail in the morning.

Only posting what the article from the past said. It appeared to me that at that time they wanted the UN to fully back the effort as a condition of using their bases... Things change as the day draws near.

thanks ... I definitely don't mean to be one of those "why is this breaking news cops" but I wondered why Drudge also thought it was so significant ... by my count we could end up with 7 carriers or so in that region as well ... not to mention Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar ...

Militarily, it is not mission-critical. But it says a heck of a lot about what the Saudi rulers see when they read the writing on the wall.

It took this long for the stupid bastards at the NYT, to admit they were wrong - and were mistaken about President Bush's ability to FORCE the UN to "Do the right thing"..

We are approaching a new era..
The UN will reform or be relegated to irrelevant status, with STRONG American opposition to high levels of financial support for the worthless idiots.
All "terrorists" or terrrorist wannabes - including the Saudis, North Koreans, IRA, Islamists, Drug Lords, Leftists, Marxists and various other worthless skin fillers worldwide - are on notice that the man in the White House - and the vast majority of AMERICANS are serious...
