August 5, 2002 From the desk of Ken Rineer, President IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUESTED:

THE SALE OF BEN AVERY TO DEL WEBB

The Arizona Game & Fish Department is considering an offer from Del Webb to sell off the Ben Avery Range at $100K per acre, or at least portions of it. To avoid massive crowds of Phoenix-area shooters spoiling their plans, Game & Fish has scheduled the meeting in Flagstaff.

The meeting will be held at the Woodlands Radisson Hotel, 1175 West Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ at 9am on Friday August 9th.

There's a large agenda and they may want to go into executive session when they discuss the economic development of Ben Avery Range. (Which in my view would be a violation of the Open Meeting Law)

What do you need to do?

Be there yourself if you can or at the very least, contact every shooter & hunter you know in the Flagstaff area so they can go and show up in mass.

Contact for the Arizona Department of Game and Fish is as follows:

In any hearings, letters to the editor, calls to local talk shows, etc., be sure to bring up the "past" of Del Webb.

In one case, Spur Industries vs. Del E. Webb Development Co., the developer located a retirement community right next to a cattle feedlot - then sued the feedlot company over the zillions of flies that it knew or should have known were there before it located next to a beef feedlot! (Look up Del Webb or Dell E. Webb on any legal database for other cases.)

Scandals of antigun politicians - including how-to guide for "outing!

Del Webb has been playing hardball in cleaning out those they want out of the area. Story goes that a couple of folks have even turned up dead....

Then there was the little problem about the radioactive contamination they tried to spread....

Same thing is happening in Rancho Cordova (soon to be city) in Sacramento County. The are about 3000 houses scheduled to be built in a new development. However, the developer is sueing a cattle parts rendering factory because of the stench it causes. The factory's been there for at least 20 years now.

Delbert Webb's first construction job, as a young contractor in 1942, was to build a concentration camp in Poston, AZ, where Americans were imprisoned on account of their race: http://www.cr.nps.gov/history/online_books/anthropolgy74/ce10.htm
