I hate to be a whiner, BUT.........I'm still disappointed that, when I log on, Breaking News is always down low on the column on the right. I always have to scroll down to look for it. I would be much happier if it were to always be the first articles I see, or at least be at the top of the right-hand column.
Maybe I'm missing a step here; is there a way to set Breaking News as the default? I've tried a lot of different things, but it doesn't change.

My problem is that I had started using Beta FR and that became inoperable about 2 weeks ago. The new format is gone and I am back to the format I was accustomed to over a year ago.
Any suggestions?
(Ducking and running...)
On the beta site, there was a choice you could get to by clicking on your name in the upper right hand corner of the Latest Posts page called "My Subscriptions". The URL for that was http://beta.freerepublic.com/focus/my/subscriptions (I didn't make it a hyperlink because the beta site is no longer there). It would allow you to order the sidebars however you want. Without that, they come out with whichever has been most recently posted to first.
Unfortunately, even though FR appears to be using the settings one could have made over on the beta site (my breaking is always first, for example), it does not appear as if the "My Subscriptions" link has been implemented on the main site yet: the http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/my/subscriptions link yeilds "Document not found".
1..Go to your sidebar preferences and delete (unsubscribe)to all of them.
2..Then go back and add the ones you want, Breaking News, etc..and they should then be listed in the order that you add them.
Hope it works for yew.
Enough time has passed for me - and apparantly others - to get over the "newness factor" and the jury is in: It aint better. It is harder to navigate than the old format.
