Two Florida S.C. Justices Up For Merit Retention Vote In 2002
Florida Courts ^ | 3-16-02 | Self

Just a reminder: Two Florida Supreme Court Judges are up for "re-election" (Merit Retention) this year. Chief Justice Charles T. Wells, who voted correctly with the SCOTUS in preventing Al Gore steal the 2000 election, and wrote a scathing dissent of his co-judges, is due.

The other, Harry Lee Anstead, thought it was perfectly alright for the State Supreme Court to change the rules of an election AFTER voting took place, in order to hand the election to fellow Democrat Gore. He also felt it was also perfectly OK to prevent every MILITARY vote from being counted.

Is there any organization formed in Florida to fire renegade judges yet? Let's not forget the attempted coup of 2000.

This would be an excellent campaign issue for Gov. Bush.

Please bump. I'll remind everyone every month or so. Perhaps one of our Fox News lurkers will mention this item in the coming months.

It's time to rid the FSC of Judges who ignore the meaning and purpose of our Constitution.

Anstead has proven himself to be an opportunistic, contemptible, morally dishonest, anti-American.

Charles Wells wrote the stinging dissent that was used by Scalia as a basis for the majority decision. He correctly predicted that the decision would be overturned at the Federal level, and he was right. I will vote to retain Wells, who understood the Constitutional stake in that fight.

Anstead, on the other hand, deserves the back of the hand of the voters of Florida. We should make sure that Anstead gets dumped.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Thanks for reminding everyone about this. Most people pay no attention to this part of the ballot. Do either of you know more about Wells' record? I thought they all were liberals. I'm not inclined to say he should stay on if this was the only decent decision he wrote.

Dear Scooby, I live and vote in Florida and I like your IDEA of dumping both and let Jeb choose two.

You may be right to replace both, but it's better to focus on one and nail him.
