"NO, WE DON'T WANT TO DO THAT!!!"
My twisted mind! ^ | December 9, 2001 | gonzo

Posted on 12/09/2001 1:20:10 AM PST by gonzo

It is a simple solution, and simple enough so that over 85% of Americans understand it!
If the Pilots of the American and United, Airliners, on 9/11, had been equiped with handguns, we would still have the beautiful WTC towers, and the Pentagon would be un-damaged, and the 'LET'S ROLL' guy would still be alive, WITH HIS WIFE AND FAMILY!!

The perps would be dead-or-wounded, and over 3000 Americans and others would still be alive!

When GWBush was asked, shortly after the attack, and right after his announcement that the Airlines would be given emergency subsidies, and I paraphase,: "President Bush, will you authorize Pilots to carry handguns to protect their planes and passengers?"

His answer was, and I quote, because these words are burned in my memory:
"NO!! WE DON'T WANT TO DO THAT!!

Think this over carefully, kids! A Republican President has just informed all of us that He is not gonna allow the Pilot to protect his ship, crew, or paying-passengers from harm!

Read that carefully - The Pilot CANNOT protect his passengers from harm!

I understand that there is a provision for arming Pilots in the latest gibberish from our congress, but which Airlines have passed-out handguns to their Pilots and announced it!?!?

If I owned or ran an Airline, I'd be yelling:"Hey, y'all, our Pilots are armed! You can fly our Airline, and YOU WILL BE SAFE!"

It should be obvious to all civilians, that our so-called elected government, including our 'Dead-or-Alive' President, George W. Bush, has no intention of upholding our Second Ammendment!

When you realize that President Bush has signed-on 20 or 30 THOUSAND new FEDERAL EMPLOYEES, you gotta ask :"What-the-F*CK is going on?"

The answer is in-your-face, and obvious. Just arm the Pilots, and everyone will feel safe........

Keep track of who spends YOUR money for an Airline that you would would never fly on! Stay well and vigilant, folks......FRegards....gonzo!

"...But then again maybe junking the Second Amendment is the goal??? It may seem like an odd thought, but if it is so then everything is right on track as it should be. ..

al, the track looks pretty clear to me!

I go fishing in the Gulf, often, and I always inform the Captain that I am armed, and He always tells me that I am responsible for starboard!

Piracy has been controlled for years with weaponry! The name 'Hi-Jacking', is just 'Piracy'.

I will employ the Second Ammendment in my life, as I see fit to do, but I fear that my Grandchildren will never know that feeling. Stay well and vigilant.....FRegards

You got it; to draw any other conclusion, one would have to be stupid or a mindless lemming...

a double bump to you

Hey Gonz...if you met my three boys you'd realize that there is *some* hope for the future. All the 14-year-old wants for Christmas is a Henry lever-action .22 rifle.

I'm with you on your reservations with Bush. It's interesting that he no longer even has to talk the talk. Lately I've been thinking more and more seriously about looking into property down in Argentina (which is probably available for a bargain these days!).

Let's kick it up a notch. Congressman Anthony D. Weiner 90-16 Rockaway Beach Boulevard Rockaway, NY 11693 Congressman: For all intensive purposes, we are at war. Even worse the first battle was on home soil. Even worse than that, all 22,000 plus federal, state and county gun laws did not do squat to protect us at best, and left the citizenry defanged at worst. Now our United States Attorney John Ashcroft affirmed in a letter to the NRA that the 2nd Amendment is an individual right. This is a complete reversal of the Clinton/Gore/Reno DOJ collectivistic interpretation of the 2nd and the flawed view that the constitution is a “living and breathing document” and amendments can be redacted by fiat. Furthermore, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruled in US vs. Emerson, in no uncertain terms, in favor of our founding fathers original intent of the 2nd Amendment: THAT IT SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED ESPECIALLY IN WARTIME! Thereby, making all gun laws for all intensive purposes null and void, if not moot. Congressman, now is the time to act. As someone that fits the specifications for militia, consider me that. As militia, my fellow militiamen and I need a place to train. The logical place is Ft. Tilden. We are at war. Tell the enviro-nazis to deal with it or they won’t have a country to complain about anymore. NGOs such as the NRA, CMP, NYSRPA, SCOPE and SAFE can supervise training. Despite what the media says there are plenty of patriots willing to take up arms and sacrifice our lives to defend our beloved country. In order for civil defense to have any efficacy, it must be armed. Therefore, you Congressman must take initiative to undo the harm all the gun laws have done to civil defense capability starting with the Firearms Act of 1934 up to the latest disaster du-jure assault weapons ban and magazine capacity restrictions. M-1 Garands and AR-15s should be the staple of the Militia, as well as pistols and shotguns. We need to train and assemble with weapons to do the former. In closing, I want to leave you with some quotes from our founding fathers: “THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO SACRAFICE FREEDOM FOR SECURITY DESERVE NEITHER.” Benjamin Franklin “I KNOW NOT WHAT COURSE THAT OTHERS MAY TAKE, BUT AS FOR ME: GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH!” Patrick Henry

just arm the pilots and everyone will feel safe

this is a business decision. more passengers will feel threatened by pilots having guns than not. people will stop flying and airlines will go bankrupt.

it is not about what you think. it is about what others think. whether you like it or not, the average american does not want to live in a society where anybody can be carrying a conealed weapon.

in case you haven't noticed, this is why the gun lobby meets so much resistance. by the way, i own a couple of guns and am sympathetic to the responsible use of firearms for sport.

I'll bet that the Captain asks to shoot off a couple of rounds every now and then.
Bottom line: The Captain is responsible for the lives on the ship, plane, etc. The politicians aren't gonna take any heat if terrorists pull any kind of crap and the Captain can't do anything to stop it due to laws THAY wrote; his hands are tied.
If another skyjacking occurs, and it's proven that the Captain and crew could've prevented it with the use of firearms, and lives are lost, the gungrabbing politicians should be removed and tried for conspiracy to commit murder.
Too bad that THAT'S not likely anytime soon.

BTW, Ever fire tracers over the water and watch them bounce and skip? It's REALLY cool!

Somehow this doesn't sit right with me, "business decision". Passengers are willing to get on a plane that has an armed Air Marshall sitting amongst them but don't want the men flying the plane to be armed? These men are the last line of defense.

be an unarmed target or be armed and prepared to take a life in preservation of your own. the second option is the only responsible option

i am guessing that you would like to go back in time to the early 1800s in the west. i support your right to use your gun on intruders of your home and castle. i do not support people who want to protect themselves by carrying loaded guns in populated areas. this is clearly not responsible.

Isn't there some rule against trolling on a Sunday?

Methinks your efforts are wasted here. First, disarm the predatory criminals. Once they're off the proverbial streets, get back with us about your lofty goal of disarming the victims.

BTW, don't you fret about leaving your bridge unguarded at a time like this?

somehow this doesn't sit right with me

thanks and let me try to explain. i probably was not very clear.

no airline is going to go this alone and arm pilots. they either will all arm pilots, or they will all not arm pilots. the average american does not approve of people having loaded guns in public, especially those who are not trained to use them.

americans will accept trained air marshals on air planes. whether or not they are, the perception will be that the air marshals are not only trained on the use of firearms, but also tained in diffusing volatile situations. pilots may be trained in the use of guns, but not in diffusing dangerous situations.

the airlines will say that air marshals are mandated by the government and that these folks must be on the planes. this argument is easy to make to paying customers and will be accepted; saying that they [airlines] will arm pilots for safety sake is a tough sell and will chase away a non-trivial number of passengers, and hence revenue. that is why i called it a business decision on the part of the airlines.
