I am sinner; I know that thru the sacrifice of Jesus Christ my sins have been paid for. I try to be a good student and disciple of the Word. My problem fellow Freepers is this. Last weekend my ten-year old daughter became ill, nothing serious. However, it started me thinking of all the what ifs. I am aware that a good many of the members of this forum are good God fearing folk and are probably having the same thoughts as I.
I had a fairly volatile temper as youngster and Ill never forget sitting in the principals office in the 7th grade with the Pastor, the principal (a nun), and my folks when they gave me the advice that basically my temper should be managed via prayer and good hard physical work. The only time I should act out anger is in defense of the following: The Church, family, or country. The reason I bring this up is that I am now having to deal with my thirteen year old son, who seems to much more passionate than I was at his age. He was very enraged by the events of 911, he did not act but from time to time I can still see in eyes the rage that I feel that these B()*&DS attacked, The Church (all Christians), our family (brothers and sisters in Christ as well as our Jewish cousins), and of course our country. Being, for now, a law-abiding citizen, I have chosen not act or I become my own enemy. In writing this, I question the following:
In closing I guess I can only pray that the true believers will be sealed and protected by the Blood of the Lamb against the evil that has been, in now, and shall soon be thrust upon us. I would appreciate thoughts, comments and prayers.
You shouldn't have this time either.
2. No
3. Yes ...If they are real and in your vicinity
4. Yes
No. You are MUCH better since you are a christian.
If the bio-chem attacks are real, should I get my MREs, ammunition, weapons, and my backpacking gear together and with my family head for hills?
I say go ahead and head there now and stay put until you get the 'hi sign'.
You have it backwards. Look unto the hills from whence my help will come.
At least you have started to think about these things. Here are some more that you should already know how you will handle when they happen.
A loved one (child or spouse) dies or is severly hurt.
You suffer an unexpected disability.
Your source of income is suddenly lost.
Someone threatens your life or property.
Someone you trust completely betrays you.
The thing you most enjoy or desire suddently beomes an impossiblity for you.
Everyone should have settled in their mind how they will deal with these things when they happen. The first step is to realize at least some of these things will happen to you. None of them need to be the end of the world for you, and won't be if you have settled in your mind how you will deal with them.
Here are the two rules of self defense:
Don't be there when it happens. (Ninety nine percent of the bad things that happen to people are their own fault, usually because they are doing something they know they ought not do, and being some place they know is dangerous.) (This is one reason what happend on 9/11 is so horrible. Those victoms were innocent.)
When threat cannot be avoided, there are no "rules" of defense. There is no such thing as "excessive" force or "too extreme measures" in the defense of one's self and property.
You also need to have figured out what you will do when the unexpected and undeserved threat happens. (Think guns, escape maneuvers, what will stop most people, e.g. it's hard for an attacker to hurt you if he cannot see.) Hank
