Kremlin says Russia and NATO are now in "direct confrontation"

Russia and NATO are now in "direct confrontation", the Kremlin said as the U.S.-led alliance marked its 75th anniversary on Thursday.

NATO's successive waves of eastern enlargement are a fixation of President Vladimir Putin, who went to war in Ukraine two years ago with the stated aim of preventing the alliance from coming closer to Russia's borders. Instead, the war has galvanised NATO, which has expanded again with the entry of Finland and Sweden.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: "In fact, relations have now slipped to the level of direct confrontation."

NATO was "already involved in the conflict surrounding Ukraine (and) continues to move towards our borders and expand its military infrastructure towards our borders", he said.

Putin is a crazed warmonger, Joe is a demented old man who has taunted Putin, and Ukraine is the battleground that hides the secrets of US corruption, a CIA coup, an Oil/Gas war between the East and the West, and a collision course that the Biden administration has put us on.

I don’t click on news links. Unless you have your own actual sources instead of relying on the media, don’t bother sending any. And I sure won’t click on links I have to cut and paste to get to the site. That takes up more time in what I have left in my life than I choose to waste.

Why would Russia front a nickel to rebuild Ukraine? Wouldn’t leaving it in ruins make partisan resistance fighting harder if the Ukes are struggling just to eat and keep warm?

The Eastern part of Ukraine that makes up Novorusyia will be rebuilt, the Western part that comprises Banderastan will be left in smoking ruins. At some point though Hungary, Romania, and Poland may negotiate the return of their historic lands leaving rump Ukraine a land locked ward of the EU.

Thank you

People keep associating nato to Soviets. But Russia still aspires to having the same goal. Call them soviets or russia. NATO is still needed , end of story

NATO has been pushing for open war with Russia since the collapse of the USSR.

The world would have been a much better and safer place if NATO had been disbanded when the USSR ceased to exist.

That must be why NATO didn’t conduct a single military operation until the collapse of the Soviet Union. Since then it has conducted operations against Yugoslavia, Serbia, Afghanistan and Libya; none of whom attacked a single NATO member.

How strong is our military after so many years of woke commanders driving out men who wanted to serve their country? Between woke nonsense and watering down standards I don’t know how good we would do in a major war. NATO also lacks the capacity to produce the weapons and ammunition they would need to fight a war. It’s weird that the same people who gutted our military are the ones pushing the hardest for a war with Russia and China.

Russia has no intention of rebuilding Ukraine. The intention is to depopulate Ukraine, putting the people into slavery in Russia. That clears the land and waters for resource extraction, wheat, oil and gas.

Exactly right.

https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainealert/ukraine-is-russia-medvedev-reveals-imperial-ambitions-fueling-invasion/ Genocide, cultural if not 100% physical, is Moscow's final solution. For hundreds of years Ukrainians have spoken their own language and nurtured their own culture, and this is intolerable to Moscow.

If VP Biden and Nuland and Co. had been willing to let Ukraine stay neutral, and not be pushing for it to join NATO, it is very possible none of this would be happening.

No. Simply no. Moscow has always viewed Ukraine is it's "property", even going back to the times of the Tsars. The book Children of Rus' would teach you this if you'd take time to read it. In fact Moscow believes that all of the nations the Tsars had subjugated are its' "property". That none of them should be independent of Moscow's direct control. Which is why they begged to be admitted to NATO when by a stroke of luck they were freed by the collapse of the USSR. Even countries like Sweden and Finland now realize that collective defense is their only refuge from Moscow's hunger for power.

At least read this precis of Aleksandr Dugin's opus:

I have been saying for months now, World War III will be fought on our land. The question is, will the Junta in DC defend us?

The Japanese thought the same thing.

They were wrong ( about a much morally stronger America) but we still got Pearl Harbor and a hell of a fight in the South Pacific. Are you willing to do that with Russia so western globalist can keep enriching themselves in the Ukraine?

Enough with the ridiculous lie that the war in Ukraine is about western globalists enriching themselves. This is a war for Ukrainian independence against an expansionist Russia. Are you willing to sacrifice the Ukrainian people to satisfy your sense of moral superiority?
