8 States Now Say Complete Ban on Gas-Powered New Car Sales Coming

The war on gas-powered vehicles continues.

While the White House recently released new rules to phase out gas-powered vehicles by 2032, several states have gone further.

Eight states plan to completely ban the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reported. Who’s leading the charge, you might ask?

Why, it’s California, of course!

They are joined by Rhode Island, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. Washington, D.C., has also committed to the ban, according to Money.

If you live in one of these states, you won’t be forced to take your gas-powered car off the road and can still buy these automobiles used or secondhand.

But what does this mean for consumers in those states?

Electric vehicles already cost more to buy than gas-powered vehicles. And while the argument has repeatedly been made that charging can save consumers money over time, there are countless stories of charging nightmares: from homes catching fire, to broken charging stations, to long charging times, to power grids unable to support the charging infrastructure.

All of the above issues cost consumers more money and time, not to mention how much replacing a battery in an EV can cost.

Also, when looking at the manufacturing of these vehicles — the mining to produce the lithium-ion batteries, the factory production of the vehicles — pollution still exists, and it doesn’t seem to reduce much of anything. In fact, per Earth.org, “Almost 4 tonnes of CO2 are released during the production process of a single electric car and, in order to break even, the vehicle must be used for at least 8 years to offset the initial emissions by 0.5 tonnes of prevented emissions annually.”

This is all hogwash since America is already bankrupt, there is no way that any of this legislation will manifest itself. EVs are heavy polluters and because of the heavy weight and high tire wear EVs will end up being far greater polluters than gas burners..........

In France they retroactively changed the emission requiements to mandate emission levels that the older cars (especially small diesel cars) were never designed to meet.

It was deliberate to force low income people in rural areas off the road.

Will these states require EV charging to rely on windmills and solar panels? Hypocrites?

Obviously, they will require a small wind turbine to be mounted on the roof of every EV. As the EV drives forward, it generates its own power. No charging stations needed. #Science

Truly they have no right to decide what I buy. If I want an electric car, I buy an electric car. If I want a gas-powered car, I buy a gas-powered car. Free choice. I am so sick of these demented fools. I will buy what I WANT.

I keep thinking about those crazy Cubans driving forty-year-old cars, repaired and rebuilt countless times, some with tractor engines, because you couldn't buy a new one.

Think about supply and demand --- since you can't buy new, then used car prices will skyrocket. Could a CA car dealer buy a new car from a dealer in another state, then sell it on their lot as USED? Why not? It's a USED car, right? And if a dealer can do it, why can't anybody do the same? CA launches a new cottage industry...

Washington state prohibits registration of any new gas cars from being registered in their state.

That will collapse their economies in about six months.

As I understand it, that’s how the Japanese keep older cars off the road (and thus require people to keep buying new ones). As cars get older, they are required to pass ‘safety inspections’.

Yes, Japan makes it too expensive to own an old car, and people periodically make the choice to buy new.

Happening in China too. But the Chinese communist regime is forcibly taking old cars and motorcycles off the roads, by having police doing checkpoints to gather up old vehicles by forced confiscation. Supposedly to "encourage" people to buy new vehicles and promote growth of industry. Soon to come to the USA?

This needs to be a top political issue of 2024. It needs to be voted on.

The World Nuclear Association is having its first general meeting this year. Their mission is to educate and lobby on behalf of the nuclear reactor industry worldwide, which already has multiple commitments to build small reactors for power generation in many underdeveloped African countries.

Increasing power demand in the USA and EU is making small reactors more attractive each year.

California, of course... joined by Rhode Island, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington...

Must all be blue states - 'cause Red state people know how to 'do the math'. The current grid will NOT allow this delusion to become reality.

I have a 1979 VW. It only has to pass a safety inspection.
Lights, horn and brakes only.

For the brakes, it has to stop within a certain distance. I have to demonstrate that the brakes work because no one at the inspection station know how to drive a standard transmission car.

I favor elimination of all “safety” inspections. Most states don’t have them nor do they need them.

They are racist to the core. In my state, an older car is about guaranteed to add $1500 to the price to pass the inspection. That prevents young minorities from becoming mobile and getting jobs to contribute to the economy.

I’ve shared that with legislators but of course it’s ignored.

I lived in Alabama in the early 90’s.

Their safety requirement was to have at least one working light on your vehicle.

Rhode Island, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington.

Loser states with dwindling populations of actual tax paying residents. Great to see them committing to mandates that will kill their economy and productivity.

The time has come to put an end to this stupidity. We are being ruled over by corrupt assholes who think they can do whatever they want to us. This country wasn't created so a bunch of talentless losers could use government regulations to rule over us like our masters. The majority of these people are lowlife scumbags. People better come together and stop letting the media and government turn different groups against each other. They've been using the divide and conquer strategy for years. We will either wise up and come together or we will continue to fall for their lies until we find ourselves living in slavery.

Until after the election then all of Biden and stooges ideas on paper ended as packing paper.
