Sometimes, it’s helpful to receive the occasional reminder that incompetent politicians and toxic identity politics are not the sole purview of the United States.
As it happens, our allies across the pond are just as capable of stoking pointless factionalism among minorities and white residents as our own homegrown politicians.
The politician providing us this example today is British far-left Parliamentary candidate George Galloway, whose different letters sent to his Muslim and Caucasian constituents are going viral for all the wrong reasons.
As seen in this post on the social media platform X, which already garnered 2.3 million views, Galloway sent two different campaign letters to voters in the town of Rochdale, the Parliamentary seat for which he was campaigning.
The letter sent to Rochdale’s white voters emphasize his support of Brexit, his ability to define a woman, and his belief in law and order, ending the letter by promising to “make Rochdale great again.”
In stark contrast is Galloway’s letter to the Muslims of Rochdale, who, according to a Guardian profile of the man, comprise 30 percent of Rochdale’s population.
In that letter, he begins with the Arabic phrase “A’Saalam o Aleukum,” meaning “Peace be unto you.”

From there, he trashed the British politicians who support Israel over the Palestinians in the Gaza conflict, insisting he has “fought for Muslims at home and abroad all my life.”
He then tells his Muslim constituents that they “have a unique opportunity” to “stop supporting Genocide, stop supporting Israeli aggression, and stand with Palestine,” before closing with another Arabic phrase, “Wa’ Salaam o Aleukum” (and upon you be peace).

I am surprised he would go this far to the right, for someone who has admitted to being a communist/socialists.
I'm not sure why he'd put the transgender stuff in the one for "whites." They are far more likely to believe ib transgender stuff than Muslims.
Clever tactician. Also shows the sheer power of MAGA rhetoric all over the world, even in little Islamabad.
Democrats tell their public they will fight for the poor and middle class, while they tell their donors they'll focus on the LGBTQIA+ and keep the money flowing into their corporate coffers.
I think he’s trying to come out as more of a populist now. He’s even paraphrasing Trump’s signature line with “Make Rockdale great again”.
That’s how the world’s second oldest profession works for all practitioners of it.
Republican, Democrat, Marxist-Leninist etc. etc.
He’s always been anti-Israel.
Seems to me that he’s emphasizing different issues to different voters, rather than being like the GOP and claiming they support small government, and then going to DC just to expand big government.
For Muslims, his letter to the whites seems rather in line with what they support. For Whites, they’re likely split on Israel, so why bother bringing it up.
Anyway, that’s how I see that sampling of his.
He’s not nearly as far left as the freaks in this country. He might be more conservative than our RINOs.

According to a recent report, Alexander Kotey left the UK on Galloway’s “Viva Palestina” convoy to Gaza in 2009, and from there eventually made his way to Syria to join the Islamic State terror group. [...]
As many as eight Muslim extremists who would later be convicted of or involved in terrorist activities joined the convoy, according to The Times. Among them were Amin Addala and Reza Afsharzadegan, both known associates of Emwazi from west London; and Stephen Gray, a former member of the Royal Air Force who attempted to join ISIS.
The list of extremists who traveled with Galloway also includes a member of the Taliban and former Guantanamo Bay detainee, Jamal al-Harith. Al-Harith was released from Guantanamo in 2004, and more recently joined ISIS in Syria.

The news that British MP George Galloway was the planned guest speaker at a February 1 Hamas fundraiser at Boston’s Palestinian Cultural Center for Peace would, in a morally coherent world, be alarming for those in the West who wonder why elected officials should be gathering support for a group of jihadist thugs whose principal efforts are dedicated to the extirpation of Israel and the murder of Jews.

MP George Galloway has congratulated Hizbollah on its “victory” in Israel.
At a news conference in a Beirut hotel, the controversial politician said: “I came here to extend my congratulations to the Lebanese people on a great and historic victory against this aggression.
“I want to congratulate the Lebanese resistance and their leading edge, Hizbollah, whose martyrs and her s have achieved this great victory.
“And in particular to their leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, whose name now rings in joy around the world.”
Galloway is in Beirut to present a phone-in radio show for a British radio station.

I disagree with Calloway on Israel. But, supporting law and order, marriage between a man and a woman and helping small businesses makes him a lot more conservative than most Democrats and even some RINOs.
And, he's absolutely right about the proxy war in Ukraine and has stood up to propaganda about it from both the left and right.
I certainly disagree with his socialist economic views and support the 13% flat tax rate that Putin signed into law in Russia.
No he is not.

I didn’t vote for Galloway, but if he can bring some DEBATE to the UK over Ukraine, then he’s worth having. As to Israel, no one cares.
