I don’t think this will survive a court challenge. If we really want this there will need to be an amendment to Kentucky’s constitution.

So the Kentucky legislature has a supermajority so could override a veto of the bill.

He resigned his Leader position. He is remaining in the Senate.

I don’t want Beshear to have this authority but difficult to believe this is constitutional given the constitution says it is the governor’s authority.

They may be able to get by with requiring a special election within a shortened period of time to fill the remainder of the term, however, and that pass constitutional muster.

Time to repeal the 17th Amendment and return to the original Constitution in selecting senators.

Get around the 17th Amendment... and get the Governor out of the decision and appointment. But the same governor has to sign this, and surely won’t unless it is veto proof and passed w/out the OK of the gov. Beshears a demo-rat.
