Putin threatens to go nuclear — because his military is suffering badly in Ukraine
New York Post ^ | Feb. 25, 2024 | Jonathan Sweet and Mark Toth

But upcoming Biden administration and German decisions concerning the deployment of precision deep-strike weapons — namely ATACMS and the Taurus cruise missile — are likely weighing heavily on Putin’s mind, along with the coming introduction of F-16 fighter jets.

Ditto bilateral security guarantees, some signed just days ago, with the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Denmark, Italy and Canada — and Sweden’s and Britain’s announcements last week of additional military assistance.

Europe is not giving up on Ukraine.

Propaganda wins aside, it was a losing week for Putin...

As many as 65 soldiers from Russia’s 39th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade stationed near Trudivske, in the Donetsk region, were killed midweek in a single HIMARS strike on their training area.

And Ukraine can use Western-supplied weapons to hit inside Russia, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters last week: “According to international law, Ukraine has the right to self-defense. And it also includes strikes against legitimate military targets, Russian military targets outside of Ukraine.”

Then Friday, Ukraine shot down its second Russian A-50 surveillance aircraft in just over a month.

Ukrainian military sources said they hit the plane — whose cost can run to the hundreds of millions of dollars — between Russian cities Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar.

That’s more than 124 miles from the front line, adding to speculation as to what weapon system was used to take it down...

Mussolini’s actions are very similar to Putin invading and conquering nations of the former Soviet Union CCCP empire.

History is written by the winners. I think you're going to lose this fight. Sooner or later, Western woke ideology was going to get smashed on the battlefield. The answer, to my surprise, is sooner.

Both sides are losing badly. In terms of men, riches, equipment , long term wounded and disabled.

Here is a new video of Russian drones killing and maiming Ukraine brave men…their best of a generation.

It’s not even news as it’s happening everyday, multiple times, every day, every day, every day….its happening on both sides. Day after day, week after week, month after month and now year after year.

Peace now.

Saturn, what if New York State were invaded. Why would you “support” defending New York, and not (a) Great Britain or (b) Ukraine. What’s the principle involved?

Regarding the tragic consequences of war, there are two possible ways to prevent them: (1) peace through strength, or (2) appeasement. Republicans tend to support (1) and Democrats (2). It isn’t a coincidence that Putin invaded Ukraine in 2014 and then again in 2022. The Democrat approach doesn’t work. The Democrat approach actually results in war. If Trump had been re-elected in 2020, Putin wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine.

Hi Jon, The House of Representatives passed a bill providing aid to Israel offset by cuts to other spending. Aid to Ukraine could be offset by yet other cuts in spending. The Biden administration and the Democrats reveal that they have other, higher priorities than aiding Israel or Ukraine (e.g., the Green agenda). Obviously, with split government, neither side can get everything it wants. But, next year, things might be very different. Javier Milei, down in Argentina, turned that country’s deficit into a surplus within a year of his election. He took a chainsaw to their fiscal mess.

I find it amazing that the Western, globalist, Deep State media keeps saying that the Ruskies are losing and FReepers keep believing their lies regardless of what the reality on the ground is.

If the Ruskies win this will these FReepers not believe it when it happens?

That's why so many pro-Putin people here are so upset these days

Morally, that is irrelevant. There's no moral basis for supporting it. Whether he's "winning" or not doesn't matter.

Oppression is nothing to celebrate, yet some of them call the brutal treatment and having untold numbers of lives destroyed as "liberation." It's sick. Then some of them feign outrage at tactics taken by the Ukrainian government when the side they support does and has been doing all of those and more for many years.

Why can’t Ukraine be neutral? Maybe because there’s an invading force trying to take them over making such a thing impossible?

“It’s probably a good idea for NATO to stop provoking Ruzzia.”

It’s almost like the Neocons WANT a Nuclear War - and if they do, no loss for them, as no one will be around to hold them accountable. Also starts making it easy to see why the 20th Century was so VIOLENT in Europe.

Like when the United States invaded Italy in 1943 and overthrew its government in 1944? Are all invasions bad, or are some okay if you judge and approve beforehand?

You have got to be kidding.

(a Nuclear War)

Well that will provide:

1) Population Reduction

2) A Great Reset

Good thing crazy 🥴🥴😵😵 ideas like those aren’t floating around.

Well of course it is “warmongering.” Those that start and support an unprovoked war are the peacemakers. Those that opposed it and never wanted it to happen are the warmongers. Didn’t you know that?

>> Is it ok to be anti-Putin and Anti - Corrupt as hell Ukraine as well?

I hope so, because that describes my own views.

I’m also anti-globalism, anti-Yurp, & anti-DeepState.

...and anti-canuck, eh?

“Why can’t Ukraine just be Neutral”

The Cold War examples of Austria and Finland showed two things:
1. Your country can be PROSPEROUS being Neutral.
2. Your country can be SAFE being Neutral.

And that was against a FAR MORE AGGRESSIVE enemy.

So the question that people should ponder regarding Ukraine is just who are the bad guys in this war, considering what is happening to Ukraine and its people?

(note: I won’t say Neocons as that would give the answer away)

It’s a European problem, let them handle it. The USA should not be expected to fight all their battles.

These two, for starters -- supported by a cast of thousands. For decades now, the nation-screwing, warmongering, profiteering US State Department has been up to its freaking ELBOWS kneading the bloody Ukrainian sausage. Hundreds, if not thousands, of evil deepstate jokers "politicians" got in on the action because $$$MONEY$$$. (Can you say Joe Biden? Can you say Mitch McConnell? And many, many more.)

A pox on them. They will answer to the righteous Judge one day.
