This quote makes literally no sense. Plenty of Republican candidates have lost their home state presidential primary.

I agree. Didn't Trump beat Kasich in his state of Ohio in 2016?

Kasich won the Ohio primary in 2016:

“What is going to happen when some court or states decide not to let us vote for Trump or they steal the election again or they won’t concede again or they cripple his administration before it even begins or they just go ahead and assassinate him?”

Do you want to just give up?

Trump isn’t. He’s 77. He’s given the last 8 or 9 years of his life for us. He’s lost more money than I could ever earn. And he’s giving everything he has - for us. The least I can do is support his efforts.

“Haley’s loss on Saturday marks the first time a Republican candidate has lost their home state presidential primary election in more than 50 years.”
“This quote makes literally no sense. Plenty of Republican candidates have lost their home state presidential primary.”

Perhaps terrible writing? Was the writer trying to say that no eventual presidential nominee ever failed to win their home state primary?

She had a spokesperson on a cable channel explaining why
this was a great night for Nikki.

Where do you go to school to learn to lie like that?

This was a demolishing of her. You can’t even win your
own state, but you’ll win the general election?

And this isn’t for you, it’s for me?

Put the drugs down. Move away from the table.

The writer was correct—at least for non-trivial candidates.

Even the pathetic John Kasich won his own state’s primary in 2016, for example.

I am sure Pat Paulsen probably lost his home state—a bunch of times.

:-)

Campaign spokespeople for losing primary candidates are a special kind of slimy liar.

That is one of many reasons why television news programs are totally unwatchable.

Yeah, isn’t that the truth.

Sadly, a lot of mush for brains people do watch.

‘Trump declared his swift victory ... saying with a smirk: ‘This was a little sooner than we anticipated.’

He said it with a smile, as one would expect. This reminds me of the press chattering away about Bush walking with a “swagger.”

The article might have considered the voters. It’s notable that the voters in South Carolina came out so strongly for President Trump.

Was crossover voting allowed?

The primary allowed Democrats to vote in the Republican primary.

My estimate is that somewhere between 100,000 and 150,000 Democrats and Democrat-leaning Independents voted for Nikki.

Republicans and Republican leaning Independents have voted and polled for President Trump in the 75-25 range in all regions of the country.

The Democratic crossovers reduced that number to 60-40 in South Carolina.

Tip for next Tuesday.

Michigan is also an open primary—but Nikki caught some tough luck.

The hundreds of thousands of Arab voters in Michigan are upset Biden didn’t declare war on Israel—and they have a reasonably well organized campaign on the Democratic side to win uncommitted delegates from Michigan.

Their effort probably will not work—but that has forced the Biden folks to make the effort to get Democratic turnout in the Democratic primary in Michigan.

That means Nikki is out of luck.

Michigan should be a brutal rout on the Republican side. Polls currently show President Trump with a fifty point lead.

Even if they are off by ten or fifteen percentage points it will be another Nikki debacle to add to her list.

Nikki, aka the turd, never planned on winning, it was always about stacking up the cash so she can influence future elections on behest of her donors.. its what the designated losers in the Republicant party do.. look at Kelly Ayotte, follow the money. Where it came from... where it goes..

You’re right, you didn’t say that. It just sounded like giving up. So in effect, the same thing.

Good questions, though, and we should have contingency plans. But those should come from Trump. I don’t trust anyone else
