CHICAGO — Dexter Williams has been on a roll in Cook County. Since 2022, he’s been charged with misdemeanors six times, and prosecutors dropped all but one of those cases.
Among the charges they dropped was a 2022 theft case that police filed against him after on-duty Chicago police officers said they saw Williams trying to steal a catalytic converter in Roscoe Village. The cops asked prosecutors to approve felony charges, but the state’s attorney’s office rejected that idea and then dropped the entire matter a few months later.
Maybe Williams should have stayed in Cook County.
He’s now being detained in DuPage County after officials there accused him of having—this may sound familiar—four catalytic converters, a jack, a Sawzall, and Sawzall blades in his car after he slammed into a light pole while trying to get away from cops in Lombard.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin couldn’t be more pleased.

Unlike Cook County’s prosecutors, Berlin’s team slapped Williams with felony charges of possessing a stolen motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools, and aggravated fleeing and eluding. They tacked on a dozen misdemeanors and traffic offenses, too.
Berlin’s prosecutors asked a DuPage County judge to detain Williams as a public safety threat. The judge granted that request, Berlin said.
Williams looks perplexed in his DuPage County mugshot. Maybe he feels confused by how law enforcement outside Cook County handles criminal matters.

It reminds me of the video clip of a few weeks ago where a criminal found out he had unknowingly ventured into Polk County, Florida when running from cops and committed several traffic infractions. As he was arrested by deputies he told them he would be released in a short while but then they told him he was in Polk County, and his response was ‘Oh, my God! Not Grady Judd!'

No mother in America needs be feared her son is arrested for crossing over from one to another county.
He is part of the reason your insurance has gone thru the roof.
My catalytic converter was stolen out of my car after insurance out of pocket was 500 dollars, no arrests to date and even if so how do you recoup? you dont! and the suspect is free to do it again to someone else. Nice system we have

He'd look even more "perplexed" without hands or the ability to steal again....that's why they used to execute horse theives.
Sounds like they don’t have a “no chase” policy in DuPage county either.
DuPage county seems to have avoided a lot of the progressive rot that has afflicted counties on the Virginia side of the Potomac in recent years.
He should be executed for being a predator on society.

They pulled one out by his feet recently in the metro that is fortunately not exactly nearby. He was a three-striker fafo-ing in a red state. Buh bye!

My county is not very strong. We have no diversity. And no catalytic converter thefts....
