Snap, the maker of the social media platform Snapchat, says it will lay off 10 percent of its global workforce, around 500 employees, to “promote in-person collaboration.”

The social media company, which laid off 20 percent of its staff in 2022 and a small number of product employees in November, made its announcement on Monday, amid its shares falling around one percent in morning trading, according to a report by CNBC.

“We are reorganizing our team to reduce hierarchy and promote in-person collaboration,” a Snap spokesperson told CNBC. “We are focused on supporting our departing team members.”

I’ll have to stop sending those pictures over Snapchat (/s)

FD: I haven’t used Snapchat in at least 4-5 years, and even then it was only communication method #3 when methods #1 and #2 weren’t working

You have to make money to pay employees.

They may get lots of person to person collaboration—with demoralized employees.

OK, to be Sirius. IT daughter says that all this tech layoff-ing is the result of a lot of people being hired years ago when these projects were starting, who should have been let go sometime in the last four years but weren’t because of all the gushing funds from the gubmint during COVID, so instead of it happening one project at a time, they’re all shrinking their workforce at once. You’ll never know this outside of here, because the MSM still has to shill for the left regardless.

Rich people are doing great. But then again, the Democrats have always been the party of the rich.

Snap to Lay off 10% of Global Workforce to ‘Promote In-Person Collaboration’

What the hell does that even mean? Their only product is meant to enable remote collaboration. If they want to promote in-person collaboration, all they have to do is pull their product.

They must be thinking that if they call it something fancy, like “in-person collaboration”, people will think it sounds nice and forget that they prefer to
not commute, and to work from home instead.

My daughter made me get Snapchat. She likes to send videos of her talking instead of texts. I don’t like Snapchat.

Whoa! That is some little ‘tracker’ there.

So laying off people is going to ‘Promote In-Person Collaboration’.

It’s going to make things go much better. Yeah.
