"..residents are acutely aware of rising sea levels and the need for more renewable energy.."

Still with the rising ocean debacle.

Why are they living on an island if they're so terrified of drowning?

A few days last week on NE Ohio were cold, calm, overcast with heavy gray winter cloud bank. The several wind turbines along the I-90 Shoreway were totally still. Solar had to be way below average output, which is at best only about 30% capacity for 6 hours anyway, far lower in the short days of winter. The entire metro area would have had to be run on batteries for best part of a day or maybe two. Not the mega city to be sure, but still Cleveland metro is a couple million people. It would have been a very cold and dark time for all of us.

"And the governor listened, because there are a lot of voters in Long Island’s Nassau County that Dems need badly."

I have lived in New York State for 76 years, and have never known any Democrat Governor of the State to listen to any voter, Democrat or Republican. I remember when Mario Cuomo suffered the defeat of two bond referendums on the ballot that were supposed to save him fiscally. He had a huge temper tantrum afterward. Denigrated the people who voted against them. I believe it was the next election that Pataki beat him. I could never understand why people would eventually turn around and vote for Andrew, especially after the shenanigans of Eliot Spitzer and David Paterson.

The fact that the majority of the counties in New York State are red, but the State Legislature consists of approximately a 3 to 1 Democrat majority, tells me all I need to know about the fraud and corruption that is called New York State. The Cuomos were among the biggest crooks.

I'd like to know how much money exchanged hands before the off-shore wind farm project went kaput.

I would have preferred David Paterson to Andrew.

"I would have preferred David Paterson to Andrew."

Not much difference except for the color of skin. Paterson butted his nose in a domestic violence case. He personally contacted the woman who had made allegations against his top aide. He was accused of, but wasn't charged with witness tampering. The Judge that conducted the investigation said he'd used "bad judgement," but of course he never faced criminal charges. He also faced charges of soliciting improper gifts, along with accepting free Yankee tickets, and making false statements. He was fined over $62,000, but faced no perjury charges. He ended his bid for a full term as Governor shortly after. He was also a known womanizer, despite being married. His marriage ended in divorce in 2014.

Blindness was probably more of an obstacle than marriage.

Paterson wasn't in the Governor's office long enough to know if he was just another Democrat thug or not. He served out Spitzer's term, and wasn't going to flex his muscles if he wanted to be elected to a full-term next time around. He dropped out of the race when it was discovered he was a crook. Inside every Democrat politician is a thug.

He took Yankee tickets. That's political chump change

I can't think of anything he did as a state Senator or Lt Governor or Governor that compares to take no prisoners Spitzer and Cuomo. I always want a Republican sitting in Albany, but as Democrats go his was middle of the road.

That's a nice thought, but I don't think they'll ever be a Republican Governor in Albany ever again. Not what's left of my lifetime anyway.

Lee Zelden came close. I'm stupidly an optimist.
