New York's Massive Off-Shore 'Empire Wind' Farm Goes Blade Tips Up

As far as I’m concerned, this New Year is off to a resounding start, with the wind industry and Green cabal already taking a pounding right out of the proverbial gate.

Yesterday’s late good news is so, SO schweet.

Another huge blow for renewable energy to fight climate change:

BP and Equinor have scrapped a massive offshore wind power project off New York's Long Island. Empire Wind 2 can't go forward b/c of cost increases. The whales win again!

I’ve looked at the National Weather Service wind forecast maps.

Wind is just too unreliable.

And to top it off, it’s been another quite cloudy and cold day here in my part of Florida. It’s been dreary and cold for about a month here. At least late today is not so cold that I would want to crawl under the covers of my bed in the early evening.

If Joe Biden thinks fossil fuels will be going the way of the dinosaurs he is wrong again.

According to the petition, the Equinor-BP JV was calling for “a 54% increase on average across its portfolio”... The JV was seeking different rates across its three projects, with Beacon the highest at 55%.

In other news, representatives from the Gambino and Colombo families called to apologize for not preparing the Governor for this sort of thing. "Dese guys," said one, "Dey make us look like da Little Sisters Of Da Poor."

They filled multiple fields near me with solar panels.
There was an experimental wind turbine that they tore down, it was a smaller aerial footprint then a standard one and killed less birds.
But the ecoyuppies want to force everyone to use electric vehicles which the grid can’t handle.
And they don’t want useful and workable new generation capacity either.
Case in point, how they went ape stuffing crazy over the gas compressor generator in Orange County NY.

That’s okay. Deep State has a backup plan, doesn’t it...

“”Coupled with the disaster that is #Bidenomics and vanishing government subsidies have wreaked havoc with developers and projects.””

And this from a few months ago:

“”Danish wind developer Orsted is halting the development of two massive New Jersey offshore wind projects due to cascading economic pressures, including skyrocketing interest rates and a supply chain crunch””

Some of the articles published about Orsted mentioned billions in incentives & subsidies (taxpayer $$$), but Orsted stated that even with all the taxpayer $$$ up front, it is still not economically viable.

Not mentioned in any current articles is what happens when the wind is not blowing, especially when it is very cold. Some of the wind mechanisms HAVE TO be kept warm. Hydrocarbons (fossil fuels for those of you in Rio Linda) like natural gas are used to keep these mechanisms warm.

Speaking of hydrocarbons, what about the construction and transportation of all of the giant towers, blades, etc? I doubt that the factories and trucks used to produce and transport are solar powered. Just sayin’.

Spent about a half an hour today talking about how climate change is hoax to a GenZer co-worker.

Told him about how this started in the 60’s with “The ice age is coming!! and geological evidence that our climate has been everywhere for the last millions of years.

He sat there with his jaw dropped and when I finished he said, “We’ve been lied to!”

Can we still demand they abandon evil fossil fuels?

NYC relies on 24 in-city power plants that run on natural gas and/or fuel oil. Most of these plants were built decades ago and 70% are over 50 years old. In addition to releasing GHGs that contribute to climate change, these plants release air pollutants that cause air quality and health issues in NYC communities.

Equinor is a Norwegian oil/energy company, 67% owned by the Norwegian Government. Because of that, it has all the expected stupidity and politics one would expect.

In 2020, it sold its share in a Canadian oil producer, with 1.2 billion barrels of reserves, for a mere $18 million, because Canadian heavy oil was somehow immoral

Their share would be worth about $450 million, if they simply waited another 2 years.

they instead used their profits from a monopoly position on Norwegian hydrocarbons, to invest in fashionable, political “green energy” projects.

Its a POS company that should be avoided by every investor

Okay, this sounds suspiciously like many of the projects that Andrew Cuomo put together during his terms as Governor. Billions of dollars spent on green, and technology projects that never got off the ground, or the companies backed out of the deals. In three of those projects under Cuomo, two of his top aides and some contractors were charged with corruption and fraud, found guilty, and are serving time in Federal pens. One of them was in charge of the corrupt bidding process he put in place on at least two of the projects. Those projects were used to fill the pockets of Cuomo’s big donors. People made money on these failed projects, and it sounds like it might have happened again.

Nothing of value except tens of millions of dollars of design work, cancelled material and equipment contracts, penalty clauses in cancelled power agreements, millions spent on permitting, delivered equipment being worth pennies on the dollar…all flushed down the crapper.

Far better they flush all that now rather than when it’s built. What a waste. But not a problem because the Brandon Crime Syndicate got fedgov to guarantee the loans and us taxpayers take it in the shorts again.

I’m sure the wind company execs will all get their massive bonus payouts regardless of how it turns out. Then they’ll donate a lot of their fat bonus checks to Dem pols.

My favorite part of the article:

It turns out that the residents of Long Beach, a really nice, oceanfront neighborhood on Long Island, took noisy and particular exception to plans the wind farm had for running their essential off-shore transmission line up onto and through the little city’s very beautiful and uber popular beachfront. Equinor was going take that massive line right through the center of town.

Oh, hay-yull, no” Long Beach said.

And the governor listened, because there are a lot of voters in Long Island’s Nassau County that Dems need badly. Also, Hochul probably figured the writing was on the wall after the PSC turned the rate increases down, so she could afford to take a little climate cult heat. (FYI: The Long Beach City Council swung Republican a week after Hochul’s veto)
