The leader of South Korea's political opposition was stabbed at a news conference in the southern port city of Busan, Yonhap news agency reports.
Lee Jae-myung, who narrowly lost the presidential elections in 2022, was stabbed on the left side of his neck on Tuesday morning.
The male attacker was arrested at the scene.
Lee was transferred to a hospital about 20 minutes after the attack. He was conscious at the time, Yonhap said.
Mr Lee is not currently a member of South Korea's legislature but is widely expected to run for a seat in the next general election, which will take place in April 2024.

Looks like they captured the guy.
Are the democrats in South Korea like democrats here?
In the ROK there’s a force behind the scenes: China.
Just a random attack by a madman of did Xi decide the world needs more distraction from Taiwan?
The video is brutal! I need to watch it a few more times, or a longer version, to see exactly how the perp managed to get to the front of the crowd so quickly. Did he have help? Or, was this just a lone wolf.
Note: I have no knowledge of South Korea’s current politics, except that SK is not North Korea (which is more than our current Vice-President knows), so have no idea of what this means in the area politically.
Another victim of Xi, just like Abe in Japan.
By opposition they mean liberal Democrat.
I was wondering where the busan was. :)
