Sen. Angus King (I-ME) joined three Senate Democrats on Thursday to introduce a ban on the most popular semiautomatic rifles in America, describing such firearms as “lethal capacity weapons.”
The Senate Democrats are Martin Heinrich (NM), Mark Kelly (AZ), and Michael Bennet (CO).
The ban is titled the Gas-Operated Semiautomatic Firearm Exclusion (GOSAFE) Act.

May have to get another AK variant I’ve been eyeing. Why? BFY that’s why.
Good thing no one in Maine ever hunts deer ...
Hey buttwad. GFY.
Another stupid gun control law that’ll be DOA at the USSC.
Assuming by some miracle Trump takes office, the gun control legislators and enforcers need to start being arrested on civil rights charges.
Then the ATF will rule that a recoil operated firearm is actually operated by gas from the propellant discharge.
Then everything will be illegal.
Time to start charging these gun grabbers with violating their oath of office, endangering the public, violating the constitutional rights of citizens and anything else that will stick. Bleed their finances dry with lawfare like they do to us.
Ahhh ... a name that's force-fit into a dishonest acronym. That's how we know, without reading it, that it's a bad law.
Don’t anybody tell them, but a single shot muzzle loading Charleville Musket was most likely the “Lethal Capacity” weapon that started a pretty big dust-up over weapons confiscation at Lexington.
Maybe I’m nuts, but isn’t ANY firearm a “lethal capacity weapon”?
How about renaming it, GOFOAD?
It is and that's part of the plan, no doubt. The more horrible you make the name the easier it is to get the nut cases to sign on to it.
Thanks but no! 100,000+/- ODs per year but MSRs/ARs/AKs/any firearms are the problem? Uh......🖕
🙏🇺🇸🇮🇱👍
I’m sure Carl Higbie on Newsmax at 5pm with have something to say about that.
A gallon jug of water is a lethal dose if drunk at once.
This is the man that Jesse Ventura said he would pick as his running mate if he ran for President.
Still, "gas-operated" appears to be the villain of the moment. Anyone with a blowback-operated pistol is going to be awfully relieved...
Sorry Senator. We Americans are going to need those guns to hold off the Muslim terrorists you idiots are importing into America. Go try to pass some other goofy sh*t sandwich. We need an uninfringed SECOND AMENDMENT.
Not to pick nits, but I doubt that very many farmers in 1775 had access to such a military quality musket as a Charleville. They likely had smoothbore long guns that they used for hunting and dealing with Indians. Just as deadly, except for the lack of a bayonet.
But once the shooting started, their numbers grew and the Redcoats’ trip back to Boston was unpleasant to say the least. When he heard the news, King George was outraged to say the least. But it is interesting that King, a Senator from what used to be a part of Massachusetts Bay is now advocating the same policy as British government back then: Disarm the Americans.
