Don’t anybody tell them, but a single shot muzzle loading Charleville Musket was most likely the “Lethal Capacity” weapon that started a pretty big dust-up over weapons confiscation at Lexington.

Not to pick nits, but I doubt that very many farmers in 1775 had access to such a military quality musket as a Charleville. They likely had smoothbore long guns that they used for hunting and dealing with Indians. Just as deadly, except for the lack of a bayonet.

But once the shooting started, their numbers grew and the Redcoats’ trip back to Boston was unpleasant to say the least. When he heard the news, King George was outraged to say the least. But it is interesting that King, a Senator from what used to be a part of Massachusetts Bay is now advocating the same policy as British government back then: Disarm the Americans.
