Mitch McConnell: GOP's Ukraine Views Would Make Reagan 'Turn Over' in Grave
Newsweek ^ | 11/11/2023 | Rachel Dobkin

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell recently said former President Ronald Reagan would "turn over in his grave" at the current GOP's views on helping Ukraine win its war against Russia.

McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, has been a vocal supporter of Ukraine since Russia invaded the Eastern European country in February 2022. Most recently, he has shown a willingness to work with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, on President Joe Biden's request of nearly $106 billion worth of aid, which includes $61.4 billion for Ukraine and $14.3 billion for Israel to support its war with Palestinian militant group Hamas following their surprise attack on October 7.

McConnell despised Reagan in the mid-1970s when he was becoming a force. Now he uses his memory as a Neocon cudgel to beat Americans with. As long as people keep voting for Rs like him, the insults will continue.

Reagan could have sent our troops, or weapons, into Poland. Wisely, he didn’t. Instead he actually worked with the Soviets - something the kids in charge don’t seem to be able to do with Russia, so they’re getting spanked now.

I wouldn't be surprised if in McConnell's brain it's still 1987, because he pretty clearly doesn't even know where he is a lot of time.

Retire, pass the torch to the next generation, and spend the rest of your remaining years with some dignity, old man.

Reagan would not defend Ukraine’s borders as determined by the USSR.

That is what Mitch McConnell is doing.

Actually, he is right. But if Ukraine had tried to prevent his election the GOP of that time would also be reluctant to come to the rescue.

The Hawks felt betrayed by Reagan, when he agreed to meet Gorbachev in Rejkjavik.

Reagan and Gorbachev agreed that NATO would not be on the borders of Russia, period. The senile senator is conflating the odious Bush family with the President whose greatest mistake was putting them into power, where they promptly reversed his positions in favor of the neocon warmongering.

Mitch, STFU, you have zero credibility to a majority of Americans. Give the 36 million dollars your office has enabled you, through your personal corruption and greed, to charity.

Then some of us will listen to you.
