The Maine man accused of killing at least 18 people and injuring 13 others in the nation’s deadliest mass shooting so far this year was reportedly known to be a “gun fanatic” who neighbors knew to stay away from in the Lewiston community.
The suspected shooter, Robert Card, a 40-year-old U.S. Army Reservist and petroleum specialist is being sought in a tense manhunt in connection with the Wednesday night massacres spread across a bowling alley and bar, according to authorities. (ED NOTE: HE’S DEAD, JIM)
Local resident Liam Kent, who grew up near the Card family, claimed in an interview that it was common knowledge they were gun-toting enthusiasts who lived in “basically a compound” in the typically quiet New England community.
“The family and Robert, they're all gun fanatics," Kent explained, according to NBC News. "For all intents and purposes, they are very much associated with right-wing militias. It's known in the town to stay away from them and not approach them."
“They would shoot guns all the time, you could hear them every day after school," Kent continued. "It was like clockwork.”
Kent shared a vivid childhood memory of seeing Card at a weigh station after it appeared he had just finished deer hunting with his friends.
He was “covered in blood with a gun on his back, with a giant grin on his face,” Kent recalled.
Kent said he knew some of the victims in the mass shooting, but declined to elaborate, adding, “There’s gonna be a lot of heartache and tragedy that comes from this

Well, when Mr Kent was in college, he was a member of the UMaine College Democrats. Per LinkedIn, Mr Kent was also the Director of Partnerships for College Democrats of America. He was a Maine Democratic Party State Committee Member in 2020-2021.
It also appears via his LinkTree that Mr Kent either disabled or set to private all his social media accounts.
He looks creepy.

Maine is one of the strongest Second Amendment states in the country.....Constitutional carry, Open carry, etc.
Most people here are heavily armed and hunting and plinking are not unusual.

People have called me a ‘gun nut’ before. I always correct them: A ‘gun nut’ is something you use to attach to a ‘gun screw’ to keep a ‘gun part’ attached.

they might as well give up on politicizing these shootings. its not gonna work. They wanna ban the AR 15 so bad...do they understand theres already 15-20 million already out there. Canada just had a shooting last week...can happen anywhere at anytime in any country in the world.
