I think that Putin has made clear on pain of the use of nukes and escalating to WWIII that that is not going to happen. America got rich using seignorage in the petro dollar system to make profits making stuff and making the rest of the world pay for it. That has about run its course because we are shafting not only American workers but workers all over "our" global economic empire on which we have enriched ourselves. It's not entirely unlike the end of the Raj and collapse of the British Empire. Economic conditions among average people in Britain were not particularly great, socialsim started to get the upper hand and there was no support for military adventures to sustain and Empire from which few were benefitting.
That's what strategic over-reach and the collapse attendant to the retreat from empire looks like.
There is an immense industrial capability in Germany. Why are they not doing their share to help out in Ukraine? Maybe they'll like to be conquered by the Russians.

No we’re not. Not under the Lend-Lease Act. That’s capped at $100 million.
Also, it expired September 30th. They didn’t bother to renew it, because we’re giving them the funding and equipment and logistics and training all for free. It is our war escalation after all.
