Most people aren’t stupid enough to register a firearm with the government no matter what Second Amendment violating law is passed. People understand that such a list will be used to find you and take your firearm away from you when the government decides it wants to do so.
Yes you do. In Illinois, it is REQUIRED that one has this card to even POSSESS a firearm, let alone buy one. Even to purchase ammunition.
Another point to make- it’s a bit misleading the way the article is worded. Not every gun owner/FOID card holder in Illinois has an AR variant. If they don’t know who has them, they can’t give an accurate percentage of who hasn’t registered their weapons!
I’ll chalk that up to the reporter’s ignorance. Although it could be that the State wanted it reported that way.
