Nikki Haley blasts GOP candidate's plan to cut aid to Israel: 'Completely wrong'

Former ambassador to the UN under President Trump and candidate for the 2024 presidential race, Nikki Haley, sharply criticized fellow candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

The candidate said that he supports ending the military funding to Israel once the current package passed by Congress expires in 2028, arguing that the aid would be unnecessary after he successfully negotiates new peace treaties between Israel and its Arab neighbors during the first year of his presidency.

Ramaswamy later clarified that he would support continued aid to Israel after 2028 if his plan were to fail.

...."Ramaswamy is completely wrong to call for ending America’s special bond with Israel."

Nikki Haley is completely wrong to believe that America's "special bond with Israel" is just about money.

End aid to Israel now and unconditionally. We don't need it, and we don't need the strings attached, either. 3.5 billion annually is just a tiny portion of Israel's budget. We're self-sufficient, and not America's hireling.

Should be cutting foreign aid to every country.

Ok...and? If the Abraham Accords can be expanded to include all of Israel's Arab neighbors, then we _should_ end military funding to Israel. Israel is no longer the lonely, friendless and poor nation of the 1940s. It's an economic powerhouse and a major creator and exporter of military technology. If they no longer face perpetual war with neighbors and those neighbors are no longer harboring terrorists targeting Israel, then Israel no longer has any need for my tax dollars.

“Should be cutting foreign aid to every country.”

That’s how our politicians get their really big kickbacks.

Look at the Bidens.

Can you imagine how much aid to Israel returns ti the pockets of US politicians?

America big. Israel small. America stupid. Israel also stupid, but knows how to fight. Boss? Underling?

America likes small countries that know how to fight. So America gives toys. Keep toys, America. Obsolete crap mostly, like M-16s and M-1s that we have in abundance already. When we want state-of-art fighter jets, we pay for them.

You may not be America’s hireling, but you aren’t giving up the money......that would be a financially stupid endeavor.
Plus, most American politicians don’t want to be perceived as Anti Semitic so voting for pro Israel positions are the norm for them.

Just so you know where “I’m coming from” the USA-Israel relationship from 1948-2023 doesn’t bother me at all.

What does bother me, is certain ingrate attitudes in both the USA & Israel that blame America for every issue non beneficial to the state of Israel.

I can’t find anything wrong with the idea to make Israel secure through treaties with other nations. Trump began that with the Abraham Accords. And I have to say, the Abraham Accords are one of the most significant developments in foreign policy in 60+ years. Trump achieved that by going around the State Department. They are a cesspool and consistently wrong about nearly everything.

Why is it that government spending, aid and military support needs to be forever? Permanent spending is exactly the reason we are broke. It is as if the administrative state rarely solves any problem and when they do the spending continues. Spending, foreign aid and military support needs to end by solving problems and then cutting.

We still pay for Japan’s security and WWII was over 78 years ago. The U.S. has been supporting Israel since 1948. We still pay for South Korea’s security and the Korean War was over 70 years ago. We provide security to Taiwan. We still pay into NATO and the Cold War was over in 1991. There are many more examples. The one thing they all have in common is the underlying problem are not solved.

There several ways to solve the problems. I should be clear here, the problem is we spend money on aid and military support. Second to that is the underlying problem or in some cases there is no longer an underlying problem. Take Europe of example. There is no problem. They can take care of themselves. Leave NATO. The same is true with South Korea. They can take care of themselves. They make nothing significant that we need. We can be free of national interests in South Korea through self sufficiency.

We actually have a significant threat in China relations with Taiwan. We have a real interest in Taiwan because we are reliant on their semiconductors. The solution to Taiwan is to become semiconductor self sufficient. Additionally, we have significant dependencies on mainland China for pharmaceuticals, steel and building materials, plus all that crap people fill their homes. These problems go away when we focus on America first and dominate world manufacturing. That is enabled by being energy self sufficient and dominant. Inexpensive energy is the fuel for manufacturing and it is a strategic advantage to have low cost energy because it allows us to sell less expensive and superior quality manufactured goods.

As for Israel and the Middle East there are two underlying problems; Israel’s security and our or our allies’ dependence on ME petroleum. Solve Israel’s security problems through peace accords and there is no need for aid. Become energy independent and we have no significant national interests in the ME. Europe will. Other nations will. And they need to be big boys and provide for themselves.

We have no obligation to being the world’s cop. We have blown trillions on that and no problems get solved and we receive no dividends on the wasted trillions.

As for little Nikki. She’s shallow, low-IQ’d, ignorant and unimaginative. Name one major problem she is known for solving. There is none. She is the problem and needs to be dispensed as RINO trash.

Which is understandable, because foreign policy flexibility gives Israel the best chance of maintaining a strong strategic position over the decade or two.

On another note, I always look forward to your contributions on Free Republic which are quite good when it comes to US-Israel relations.

"This is part of a pattern with Vivek—his foreign policies have a common theme: they make America less safe."

She's right. Looking forward to this Rama-Smarmy hemp humping communist and terrorist appeasing joke to finally exit from the scene.

This aid is tied dollar per dollar to buying
only American made weapons from our American
military contractors. Its corporate welfare.

It also keeps Israel from making their own
fighter jets like they make Iron Dome, the
most sophisticated drones, tanks and sidearms.
Dropping the corporate welfare package would
only excellerate competition against American
aerospace industry.

Israel is one of the tech centers outside the USA. Contractually Israel must ask for USA permission to sell
its competing equipment to 3rd party countries. That
in contrast to Germany, UK or France who sell their military
hardware without our permission.

Shouldn’t be sending aid to anybody, outside of some very narrow circumstances. The American taxpayer isn’t the world’s piggybank.
