Putin tells African leaders: I'll give you free grain despite 'hypocritical West'

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday told African leaders he would gift them tens of thousands of tons of grain within months despite Western sanctions which he said made it harder for Moscow to export its grain and fertilisers.

Speaking at a summit in St Petersburg devoted to Russian-African ties, Putin said Russia was expecting a record grain harvest this year and was ready to replace Ukrainian grain exports to Africa on both a commercial and aid basis and honour what he said was Moscow's critical role in global food security.

"We will be ready to provide Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, Central African Republic and Eritrea with 25-50,000 tons of free grain each in the next 3-4 months," Putin told the summit, whose participants reacted with applause.

And no woke green pervo strings attached. What we used to call the Third World realizes Russia is their best reliable future source of cheap grain and energy. This is another example of Russia kicking the West’s diplomatic arse all around the world.

Yes indeed. China’s fingers are also involved in this.

Biden and the West are asleep at the switch, of course.

I would like an explanation as to why the people of the most fertile land on Earth cannot grow their own food.

What we used to call the Third World realizes Russia is their best reliable future source of cheap grain and energy.

Sweden, Switzerland, Finland, Austria were all under the label "third world" -- and they don't support Putin's Russia

India see's Russia as a temporary source for cheap energy (as they get a 50% discount) but not a long term source

African countries will use Russia for the same - without supporting Russia's militaristic stance as that threatens these countries as well (the militaristic stance, not Russia's particular capability for it)

Building relationships with countries that have tons of rare earth metals, uranium and various other natural resources. Oh, the humanity!

The mousetrap is actually being set by the Biden regime: “We’ll give you Africans our crumbs if you go LGBT and stay energy poor.”

During the Cold War it was liberation movements the Soviets stood for. Popular. Now what is it-bribery? Sounds like the US. Alt least we wanted minerals.

Why not ask Rhodesia for grain? That nation used to feed all of Africa! Used to that is.

Are they illiterate?

Ukraine’s grain exports for the 2022/23 season were at 38.8 million tonnes.

Of that amount 43% went to developed countries while 57% of exports went primarily to developing countries or gateways... Bangladesh, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Ethiopia, Yemen, Afghanistan and Sudan.

22.116 million tonnes from Ukraine went to these countries and you’ve got idiots cheering on a comparatively insignificant freebie tonnage from Russia that isn’t even a tenth of the grain that they stole.

Russia stole 4 million tonnes.
