A series of climate records on temperature, ocean heat, and Antarctic sea ice have alarmed some scientists who say their speed and timing is unprecedented.
Dangerous heatwaves in Europe could break further records, the UN says.
It is hard to immediately link these events to climate change because weather - and oceans - are so complex.
Studies are under way, but scientists already fear some worst-case scenarios are unfolding.
"I'm not aware of a similar period when all parts of the climate system were in record-breaking or abnormal territory," Thomas Smith, an environmental geographer at London School of Economics, says.
"The Earth is in uncharted territory" now due to global warming from burning fossil fuels, as well as heat from the first El Niño - a warming natural weather system - since 2018, says Imperial College London climate science lecturer Dr Paulo Ceppi.
We can certainly expect more and more of these records to break as the year goes on and we enter 2024, scientists say.
But it would be wrong to call what is happening a "climate collapse" or "runaway warming", cautions Dr Otto.
We are in a new era, but "we still have time to secure a liveable future for many", she explains.

“Some” scientists, and the UN, do we need to know more?
Scientists mark the start of modern global climate record-keeping at roughly 137 years ago, in 1880. Scientists also tell us that the earth with continents and oceans began about 4 billion years ago.
Our recorded history of the earth's climate is less than nothing relative to the age of the earth. The earth has gone through and will go through innumerable climate changes since it's creation.
Should we be good stewards of the earth? Yes.
Does stewardship include not polluting our air and water? Yes
Does man have the ability to stop the earth from undergoing natural changes including climate changes that have been going on for 4 billion years? NO!
It did. But then it's been ringing for decades now.
It’s because we’re in a strong El Nino and yes, it does effect Europe.

‘Scientists’...LOL! Any relation to ‘doctors?
John MacAuthur says.. if you think I am destroying earth, wait til you see what Jesus does to it.
Just not in the way people expect, especially the approved, established experts from accepted institutions of 'higher' understanding, along with their devoted, conformity-comfort-driven followers.
Consider the timing of the publication of this article:

The line "What's up, Doc?" was added by director Tex Avery for this film. Avery explained later that it was a common expression in Texas where he was from, and he did not think much of the phrase. But when this short was screened in theaters, the scene of Bugs calmly chewing a carrot, followed by the nonchalant "What's Up, Doc?", went against any 1940s audience's expectation of how a rabbit might react to a hunter and caused complete pandemonium in the audience, bringing down the house in every theater. As a result of this popularity, Bugs eats a carrot and utters some version of the phrase in almost every one of his cartoons, sometimes entirely out of context.[7]

The nonchalant "What's Up, Doc?", will go against any unobservant audience's expectation of how a rabbi might react to the Messiah, causing complete pundemonium in the audience, bringing down the house in every theater.
It's like the writing on the wall -- by the time it appears on a wall, it will be too late. The Dark, humorless Side won't be able to connect any dots, because it never bothered to collect any dots along the way. With no dots *to* connect, Game Over.
Entirely "out of context" = nothing to see here:

Great site indeed: wattsupwiththat.com. One of my favorites. But then you would have gotten more attention to your post if you’d included a racy picture of Kim whatshername.
Can't be the sun. That would be too easy. We must initiate a multi-billion dollar study by left-wing experts to determine the real cause of summer being hot.
I sometimes get the impression that these "experts" will say anything, however absurd, if you pay them enough.
Why was it so cool in the northeast in May and June?
If Climate Change was a real concern, there would be a call to boycott Chinese and Indian goods every time it is mentioned.
Someone should send theses “scientists” a copy of The Boy who cried Wolf.
There can be only one answer. "Whatever it is" is the correct and only answer.
When were the records set 70s , 60s , 1860s ,1760s or maybe 3 million BC ,LOL
They have been saying that for here in SoCal for the last two weeks. Guess what, they were wrong.
They are going nuts about the temp in Desth Valley, but logic escapes them. The temp is 2 degrees short of the record. The record happened over a hundred years ago. How do they explain the temps between that time?
A little Solar Forcing, perhaps?
There was a massive solar flare right before the supposed “hottest day in history.”
