CNBC releases list of ‘best and worst states to live in’... and most of the worst are the states people are moving to
American Thinker ^ | 07/20/2023 | Eric Utter

CNBC recently released a remarkable ranking of “America’s 10 worst states to live and work in for 2023.”

Unsurprisingly, considering the source, the list consists exclusively of red states. The rankings were purportedly based on crime rates, environmental quality, health care, quality and availability of childcare, and inclusiveness in state laws such as reproductive rights, protections against discrimination, and voting rights. Oh, got it. Guess we know how they weighted these factors. Access to unfettered abortion (“reproductive rights”), worship of the LGBTQ community (“Protection against discrimination”), and the “right” to vote sans identification, via mail, and early and often, obviously superseded “crime rates.”

Here is CNBC’s list of the “worst” states:

  1. Texas

  2. Oklahoma

  3. Louisiana

  4. South Carolina and Alabama (tie)

  5. Missouri

  6. Indiana

  7. Tennessee

  8. Arkansas

  9. Florida

Conversely, CNBC also graciously provided a list of the “best” states to reside in:

  1. Vermont

  2. Maine

  3. New Jersey

  4. Minnesota

  5. Hawaii

  6. Oregon

  7. Washington

  8. Massachusetts and Colorado (tie)

  9. Connecticut

Notice something oddly amusing, gentle readers?

Most of the states CNBC ranked as the worst in which to live and work are the states everyone is moving to…and several of the states it ranked as the best in which to live and work are the ones everyone is moving from. I guess all those who are going to the trouble of moving are doing so against their best interests.

Or maybe they are all just complete idiots.

FL has it figured out. Actually passing legislation that runs leftist and LGBT out of the state and surely makes any of them second guess moving there. Texas is getting there… but not there yet.

Say what you want about DeSantis, but he wrote the book on how to make a purple state turn deep red.

love this part. That about sums it up. Nevermind crime, cost of living, quality of education (math, reading, writing, science), other things that really matter to tax paying families.

As someone said on Fox Business, the best chart to read is where the one-way U-Hauls rentals are going.

I knew I had it great in New Jersey, I just needed MSNBC to convince me.

> inclusiveness in state laws such as reproductive rights

These rankings are always rigged. Certain characteristics are given far more weight than others for the final score. Gun rights, low taxes and low crime might have a weight of .01 and abortion access might have a weight of 10 for example. Let’s hope leftists believe the ranking and move to s***holes.

States with the highest percentages of white Americans, either white alone or in combination with another race as of 2020:

1. Vermont 95.6%

2. Maine 95.4%

Every one of the “worst” states voted Republican in the last presidential election.

Every one of the “best” states voted Democrat in the last presidential election.

As is true of any such rankings, it depends on the criteria they are using to evaluate the states. Liberal abortion laws and “LGBT” type laws may be given great weight by CNBC, but most of us on Free Republic, would give demerits to states with such allegedly beneficial laws and policies.

Most families ’vote’ what’s best for their pocket book and the advancement as a family unit. That’s the migration pattern we see today. More money in the family’s accounts to spend and less for government to award to the ‘chosen’ groups is better. Less grooming at elementary schools better, more grooming bad. So CNBC there’s the criteria most Americans use for where to live.

State taxes not one of the criteria.... And I see California did not make either the top or bottom ten.

“FL has it figured out. Actually passing legislation that runs leftist and LGBT out of the state and surely makes any of them second guess moving there.”

At least one national liberal organization has placed Florida on a travel blacklist. Another win.

The California government prohibits state employees from traveling to Florida. Another win (although Newsome and probably many others have ignored the prohibition).

Disney, with much fanfare, said they will not build a billion dollar Satan Center in Florida that they could not afford. Huge win.

Now the Gunshine State needs a national ad campaign to remind people in NY, Illinois, California et al of the state's mosquitoes, malaria, cotton mouths, gators, hurricanes, swamps, ground-to-cloud lightening, sinkholes, humidity, Confederate monuments, super-majority Republican control of both legislative houses, Stand Your Ground Law, and the ever-present Florida Man that makes Big Foot seem like a school boy.

Just don't tell anybody the state does not have a personal income tax.

Those “best” states are the ones where you need a canoe to get back and forth to work or a flameproof fire suit to go out and work in the yard. These lists are bogus.

At family gatherings we always tell our young lefty relatives how truly miserable Texas can be.

Those worst states are also the states where the Feddies are sending all of their illegal miggy banana boater voters.

These best / worst lists are almost all meaningless garbage. When I was preparing to relocate from a major metro area, I occasionally looked at lists of best places to live, to retire, to buy a home, live inexpensively, etc. They all used the same leftwing criteria with an unswerving emphasis on racial diversity and sexual perversion.

A story written by Leftists for Leftists. Yeah, I laugh when they publish these “Best Places to Live” stories. They always throw in some variable that disqualifies 99% of conservative areas. Like: LBTQ-friendly or diverse area.
