Donald Trump is an electoral disaster for the Republican Party. He cost the GOP control of the House of Representatives in 2018, lost the presidency in 2020, and contributed to the party’s underperformance in the 2022 midterms.
So how to stop Trump from wreaking havoc in 2024? Apparently some desperate Republicans are simply hoping he dies before the election.
I’m not exaggerating. Earlier this week, the Atlantic’s McKay Coppins recounted multiple conversations with Republican officials who see no way to stop Trump from destroying the party in yet another electoral cycle.

The thing with Stormy Daniels. With a wife like Melanie, what was he thinking? What could possibly be the logic behind it? If he is the candidate I’ll pull the lever once more but I won’t like it. I wonder how many of his MAGA followers would say the same if he’s not?

And it's not uncommon. Plenty of rich folks who never get into politics are targeted by grifters looking for a payday. They generally have their lawyers pay a (to them) small sum of money to get them to go away. That appears to be what occurred.

2020 and 2022, Cali GOP embraced early and mail in voting and that's the only reason we have a small majority in the house. They put drop boxes in churches, gun stores etc
All either outright fraud or gaming the early/mail-in ballot system. All we can do is fight to get voter rolls cleaned up and play the ballot game as best we can.

You need to understand that Trump has exposed the Republicans for what they are: they're in it for the money.
Since the US is majority conservative/Republican, Pubbie candidates can just back into the seats in their respective districts, securing the paycheck, the stock perks, the benefits, the pensions after they retire and the 2nd round of money flow after they retire.
Actually FIGHTING for their constituency is ICKY - they'd much rather posture from the minority occasionally.
The Democrats are about POWER - by any means necessary. Which is why they do things like indict former presidents over phony process "crimes".
Look at the Pubbies - they couldn't even jail a sitting president for an ACTUAL felony - perjury in the face of a federal judge.
