The labor strife continues on the west coast with the announcement of the Port of Seattle shutting down due to the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) refusing to dispatch labor to work at the container terminals. This is according to an announcement by the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) which represents the terminals at the ports.

Petebuttgig’s chinese sex toys will be delayed.
I am not sure I understand how a strike at a container shipping port impacts the loading of grain, a bulk product carried on bulk carriers not containerships.

If i understand, Tacoma is down too. They do a lot of grain in addition to being a major container port.
One thing after another. Strictly coincidental, I’m sure.
It’s a longshoreman strike, which includes the grain terminals. Journalists are limited in their knowledge capacity by God.
Pete’s right on it. At this very moment, he’s driving his Tesla from DC to the West Coast……
Thank you for your observation.
Strike = no machinery operators and the ships don’t really unload themselves (yet).
The day of much more automated port operations is fast approaching and much like our formerly vibrant shipbuilding industry all the unionistas will be sitting around at the bar talking about the good old days when they had a job and a great standard of living and so would their kids.
Strikes like this are representative of the far left in our nation who take, take, take, until they kill the host. It’s why Boeing will eventually leave the state because no business reliant on labor can survive the communist unions.
The longshoreman are always on strike. What’s new?

Mixed messages: Did Seattle police get a ‘stand down’ order (2016 MyNorthwest report).
That’s a similar message Harley Lever was told when a TV was stolen from his porch, according to Lever.
“I do think the police are restricted from being able to do what they need to do,” Lever said.
“There are clear laws on the books that can be enforced and should be enforced, and police are not allowed to do this,” he said, noting issues such as drug use, trash, needles and waste along the road, or vehicles parked beyond the allowed time or in zones they are not permitted for.
But Lever isn’t coming to this conclusion alone. There seems to be a gap between what city officials say, and what is discussed on the street. Just like Gerrald, Lever claims a police officer told him that their hands were tied when it comes to people living in their vehicles. One such experience was caught on dash cam video.
Lever called 911 in December after he noticed that a flat screen TV was stolen off his porch — it was among items to be donated to Habitat for Humanity. He found the TV outside a vehicle not far from his home. He confronted the man who lived in the vehicle — the man became agitated. Lever documented the encounter with his cellphone. The man began to threaten Lever, noting that he knew where he lived.

Don’t know if it’s still the rule, but in years past the East Coast longshoremen’s union were dominated by the Mafia, and the West Coast by Communists.
I cannot find the source but I know I read this. Once in the1950s the detective novelist Mickey Spillane confronted a Communist union longshoreman on a dock in New York City and punched him int he face. He went down. A later story said this incident was all for publicity while others said they witnessed it and it was true.
Ayn Rand was a fan and defender of Spillane and both agreed on anti-Communism.
