Louisiana congress passes bill to ban sex changes for minors, with a veto-proof majority

The Louisiana Senate passed HB 648 in a 29-10 vote on Monday. The bill bans puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgery for minors.

The bill is expected to be vetoed by Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards. However, HB 648 passed with veto-proof majorities in both Legislative chambers. The Senate requires 26 votes in favor to override a veto, and the House requires 70 votes to override a veto; HB 648 received 71 in the House chamber.

Bill author, Louisianna Congressman Gabe Firment said in a statement to the Post Millennial, "Thanks to the bi-partisan support of the Louisiana State Senate, we are one step closer to protecting Children in Louisiana from experimental chemical and surgical sex change procedures." He continued, "HB648 has passed both chambers of the state legislature with veto-proof majorities, and the people of Louisiana have made it clear that our children are worth fighting for."

“— Potential penalties for clandestine fentanyl labs could soon increase significantly with legislation awaiting Gov. John Bel Edwards’ signature.

Senate Majority Leader Sharon Hewitt, R-Slidell, told The Center Square more than 140 drug overdoses in St. Tammany Parish last year compelled her to address the fentanyl crisis and the makeshift labs driving the deaths.

“We had like eight deaths in 10 days in St. Tammany because of overdoses,” said Hewitt, a Republican candidate for governor. “Every parish has experienced the same kind of problem as we are in St. Tammany.””

This legislation is okay for what it accomplishes, the irresponsible actions concerning the possibly harming of children unable to consider the ramifications of what they have been told and are acting upon. But this is like rounding up the cattle that have already escaped the left open corral. It’s time for the legislation to do more than put out fires. It’s time to cease the allowing of education of a topic the children are not mature enough to understand. It’s literally brain washing.

If a child is not allowed to drive a car independently until 16 years of age or own a weapon and be held responsible for contractual obligations until 18 years, then why are they expected to understand something that is a learned behavior prior to their capacity to do such other things that require maturity and not just education?

Stop the bombardment of opinionated fallout from failed efforts of people that are trying to control lives rather than let them be lived. Both body and mind can be disfigured. And when the child is old enough and mature enough to make decisions about what fact is and not the fantasy they are fed, then they can make the decision. We can set ages of an average capacity of maturity, why can’t we do the same for gender recognition?

“‘Gender-Affirming’ Surgery Leaves People Lonelier and Depressed, Study by Transgender Surgery Department Chairman Finds”

The gender-change snake oil sales[wo]men who manipulate parents into agreeing to their children having these surgeries, push the “would you rather have a dead daughter, or live son” b.s. onto these parents. They reference fake studies regarding suicide rates and convince parents that their child will commit suicide if they do not “change” genders. That’s all a lie.

Veto proofs but not Judge proof

Unfortunately, it’s not the veto they have to be worried about. It’s the red-diaper judges who will rule it unconstitutional.

You cannot deny we are seeing separation of Red and Blue states like never before. I like the trend, but it will take decades to reap the fruit of these successes, especially in school reforms and the like.

“You cannot deny we are seeing separation of Red and Blue states like never before.”

Our nation’s citizens are “self-sorting”. Such a continued and widening division in our country is not going to end well for a nation that previously considered itself “united”.

“That’s all a lie.”

The whole gender dog and pony show is a lie. Children are not born into the world with gender realization. Children do not get upset about anything unless they think they are expected to. Children are not educated enough on any topic until their experience and education of it has been reached.

A three year old child is one that is just really learning why to use a bathroom rather than pants. They put their hands on hot stoves, get bit by dogs they shouldn’t go near, have no understanding of why not to walk in front of a car, don’t use seat belts, and cries like banshee when they think they’ve been wronged whether they were or not.

Does this sound like a person who can determine gender problems? And what if the child is wrong. Now you have a mutilated body of the child being reeducated on how to be the new gender that may not like it. This is why they don’t hold under 18 kids responsible for contracts. What about their suicide rate?

Man has worked so long trying to be God. I hope someday they decide they can’t or they can get close enough to satisfy their efforts and no one gets hurt. They’re failing already at an astounding rate...both ways.

Reminds me of this:

“Sex,” I was pretty sure, meant whether you were a boy or girl, and “sin” made Tante Jans very angry, but what the two together meant I could not imagine. And so, seated next to Father in the train compartment, I suddenly asked, “Father, what is sexsin?”

He turned to look at me, as he always did when answering a question, but to my surprise he said nothing. At last he stood up, lifted his traveling case from the rack over our heads, and set it on the floor.

“Will you carry it off the train, Corrie?” he said.

I stood up and tugged at it. It was crammed with the watches and spare parts he had purchased that morning.

“It’s too heavy,” I said.

“Yes,” he said. “And it would be a pretty poor father who would ask his little girl to carry such a load. It’s the same way, Corrie, with knowledge. Some knowledge is too heavy for children. When you are older and stronger you can bear it. For now you must trust me to carry it for you.”

- from The Hiding Place: The Story of Corrie Ten Boom

We are asking our children to carry loads that are way too heavy for them. They should not be forced, as children, to see and feel the world through the lens of adults. Innocence is worth protecting and worth fighting for. We need to do our part as teachers, parents and caregivers to carry certain things for them until they are old enough to bear the load.

“Some knowledge is too heavy for children.”

And in way too many cases that’s why people deny the need to tell parents to carry that load. And then parents consider that they don’t need to tell their kids the truth and the kids fall to the lies because it’s easier to let someone else, qualified or not, to let the parents (or force them with silence) to be parents. And some parents refuse to be.

The NEA has no idea how to tell kids anything until they reach college. College is where the kids reap the teaching of the tools they were taught to use. And that’s where they are considered adults ready to learn. Not at 5 to 15 years old.
