On Monday’s broadcast of Fox News Radio’s “Brian Kilmeade Show,” 2024 Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis responded to criticisms from fellow 2024 GOP presidential candidate former President Donald Trump of DeSantis’ tenure as Governor of Florida by stating that Trump has praised Florida “for years” and “Now, he’s changed his tune and he’s saying Andrew Cuomo did better with his lockdowns in New York” than Florida did “as a free state.”
DeSantis said, [relevant remarks begin around 11:15] “So, here’s the issue: He has said how great we’ve done in Florida for years. He said [I was] one of the great governors, Florida’s one of the great states, Florida stayed open, they did it right during COVID, all this. Now, he’s changed his tune and he’s saying Andrew Cuomo did better with his lockdowns in New York than we did here in Florida as a free state. I think I can count the number of Republicans on my hand who would have rather have lived under Cuomo’s lockdowns than would have rather lived under free Florida. So, he’s just trying to sell people a bill of goods. That is totally, absolutely ridiculous and I don’t think anybody actually believes that.”

As far as I know, both DeSantis and Cuomo praised the Trump Administration on their work during Covid.
Voting is moot
the politicians are just actors on stage to distract us from going after who is actually controlling all levels of government
and it sure aint "elected representatives"
but the globalist system will be pleased at all the bickering and hate and division that gives them power
Little fella sounds so smart.. he cannot even quote what President Trump actually said..
DeSantis has a problem with the truth and wishes that is what Trump said. Desantis holds the bible high. Then he puts it down and he lies.
I really wish Desantis would ignore all of Trump’s foolishness. It will never do him any good. Talk about what you can do to improve things. Don’t be distracted by all this noise.
I will vote for the gop nominee
From 2020.
Even considering the source, don’t think DeSantis wants to get in a pi$$ing match with Yrump over CoupFlu.
Unless DeSantis is desperate.
BTW, Gov, I’m curious: Did you and the wife vaxx your kids? If so, why?
I won’t comment on that but I do know that DeSantis praised Trump for years but now he has changed his tune, since he is running against him.
DeSantis is telling the truth. You just have your hero cult blinders on.
I will vote for Trump if he in on the ballot. I will write him in, if he is not. I won't hold my nose and vote for whomever the GOPe allows to be nominated. I belong to no party after 40+ years, and can vote my conscious, and not compromise my values in order to vote for the lesser of two evils.
This apparently hostile exchange, mostly attributed primarily to Trump, is campaign rhetoric, and may or may not represent some degree of veracity. Trump is the storming alpha male in the exchange, and one of the first tactics used is to diminish potential rivals, by whatever means appear plausible, even if only in the short term. Jeb Bush was blistered unmercifully in the early days of the 2016 campaign, and so overpowered and engulfed by the storm torrent poured down upon him, he retired early in the race. Ted Cruz got much the same treatment, as did Marco Rubio. It remains to be seen, whether Ron DeSantis can stand up to and resist this assault on virtually every aspect of his character and record of performance in office, or not. Baptism by fire, as it were.
Now, from my perspective, DeSantis has been a most excellent governor of Florida, which is not to say that Adam Putnam, had he prevailed in 2016, may have also compiled a respectable record. We just do not know. Trump has made much of the fact his endorsement may have put DeSantis over the top in that primary, and managed to squeak past Andrew Gillum in the general. As it turned out, Gillum had several major problems that could very easily have resulted in his being removed from office, but that is a totally different discussion. The fact remains, that DeSantis was re-elected to the office with an overwhelming majority, which means he knows something about getting things done. The fact that DeSantis has been working with a Republican legislature and a largely approving state judiciary may have also contributed to the overall success, which just improves the optics.
And Trump is trying to tear down that standard of success? Keep in mind, that for Trump, this is “just business”, and a part and parcel with who Trump is, an iconoclastic and unpredictable factor not steeped in conventional politics.
And exactly the person we need on the international stage.
Caesar he may be. But just the right mixture of megalomania and magnanimity, to create a fortune of billions, or to act as the lion trainer on the global diplomatic level.
Old news Yawn.
Kilmeade Show. LOL
That would be the smart thing.. although some here would rather vote for Stacey Abrams if Trump isn’t the nominee.
Another woman has come forward
This is all true, but I don’t see this going back and forth in arguing with Trump having any effect. Yet, Trump has successfully drawn him into it. That’s why it is going to work - since DeSantis is not his only opponent - this is a multi-opponent primary, not a one on one matchup.
DeSantis blew it and created this problem also by being disingenuous over his record and trying to change the narrative to attack Trump over vaccines. DeSantis had a success story to tell over his management of the pandemic that he could have campaigned on as a positive for himself but instead decided to turn it into this - damaging himself more than Trump - if Trump gets damaged at all. Trump could have turned this around on DeSantis and taken the high road: “That’s one thing you did well - now you abandon that to try to damage me?” He still could - be a bit more difficult after making that Cuomo remark.
Then you will help elect a Democrat.
When all this started, I was 1000% behind Trump. I love the man and what he did for the nation. But I’m also a Floridian and 1000% behind DeSantis and his work as our Governor. As time has gone on, I watched as Trump flung unnecessary insults at DeSantis time after time, even before DeSantis declared. I’ve watched as Trump supporters made an issue about Jeb Bush being at DeSantis inauguration apparently without the knowledge that Bush is a living former Governor of Florida. In fact, all living former Governors of Florida were seated on that stage.
I’ve watched Trump and his supporters call DeSantis a RINO with zero evidence and in spite of his record here in Florida. I’ve watched FReepers who I’ve always respected cast aspersions on DeSantis’ honorable service in the US Navy. I’ve watched Trump supporters complain about DeSantis’ backers ignoring the fact that many of those same people backed Trump in 2016 and 2020. Any legitimate criticism of Trump is responded to with shouts of “globalist”, “Neo Con” and “RINO” by some of the same people that praised DeSantis before he entered the race.
I’ll vote for Trump in the general but some of y’all have just lost all sense of perspective and reality.
I live in NY State, so it doesn't even matter if I vote, because a Republican Presidential candidate will never win this State again.
