Probably true. I just don’t understand why politicians don’t understand how to make cuts in the budget instead of this weird debt increase process. Just sign the debt increase and start a budget. They won’t and will end up passing yet another CR. Absolutely insane.

Yup, and that makes me sick. There really should be laws against spreading such vicious propaganda only to sway the masses and achieve their evil goals.

"Of course, but billions for welfare, raises for politicians, billions for countries that hate us won’t be affected. Same old bull shit. Too bad Americans are sleeping.

IF their really were conservatives in the Republican Congress, the removal of "back pay" for government non-essential employees when they return from a "shutdown" SHOULD BE put in place, and let's see how that sits with them. Likewise, ANY funding of non-contributory programs should be cut FIRST, and non-citizen benefits are included in that, and see how well that would work out during a shutdown, too.

This is absolute BS. They always claim this fraud. These particular programs are not to be touched if we default.

Free Republic visitors are largely made up pf seniors on social security, as well as veterans, many of whom receive disability payments. For the record, I am a social security recipient and a disabled vet.
I wonder how many of us will sit quietly if our payments are temporarily put on hold? For me, it won’t be easy.

‘ Funny, they never touch welfare or section 8 housing. ‘

I’m hoping they can agree on at least a little work-for-benefit action. Then in the future, expand it.

Social security gets paid out of another fund. Don’t listen to scare talk.

They will have to furlough federal workers which in my opinion has likely already happened. They can shut down BS agencies and stop spending money to study the mating habits of fleas.

I’d love to see the Biden Administration cut Social Security and veterans benefits. Every able-bodied senior in the USA will rush into the streets carrying millions of loaded deer rifles.

we need to know who it is that is assigning priority to the various expenditures.

But my question is: why can’t the entire budget be cut by a certain percentage - across the board, say 5% as a starter.
