CA Democrat Senate Candidate Barbara Lee Calls to Pack Supreme Court
Brietbart ^ | 05/22/2023 | JOEL B. POLLAK

Posted on 05/22/2023 6:33:55 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), who is a leading candidate to replace ailing Sen. Dianne Feinstein in California, called Sunday to pack the Supreme Court by adding new seats and filling them with liberal justices.

Lee’s call amplifies the effort by Democrats, including House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), to counter the Court’s conservative majority by creating a new, artificial liberal majority.

Since extremist groups captured the courts, Justices have thrown out years of precedent to overturn Roe, gut voting rights, strike down common sense gun safety laws & more.

It’s past time we expand the court, pass the #JudiciaryAct, and restore public trust in SCOTUS. pic.twitter.com/igbhTjH4HO

But of course. Courts make rulings which don’t adhere to the liberal party line sometimes. So then the solution, per the leftists, is to pack the Supreme Court, with liberal justices to rubber stamp rulings in future cases.

Court-packing is perfectly legal, as the Constitution allows Congress to set the number of justices (an error by the Founders, IMO).

FDR considered it in 1937. But his plan was not popular, and went nowhere.

Well, it’s not 1937 anymore. If the Democrats try it again, the mainstream media would applaud. And 50% of the country would applaud. So it sure could happen.

My Senator is a RINO, so I’ll help Ms. Lee to pack the court by sitting out his next election.

That will teach the GOP!!!

(admit it...many of you guys think just that)

The very notion of increases the number of justices exposes the inherent desire to subvert the intended purpose of court independence.

They are willing to openly declare the court must politically align and certify liberal ideology as opposed to act as an independent balance.

Evil, morally reprehensible and utterly devoid of any critical thought.

Well said.

There is no critical thought on the left, of the issues you have raised. Their thought, is that the Court has been “wrong” on abortion, gun rights, and some other issues, so their solution is to add liberal justices to rule the “right” way.

Yeah, if they did such a thing that would pretty much start the ball rolling, if you get my drift.

Expanding the Court is apparently permissible under the Constitution but under the democrat plan it would have devastating consequences. In addition to facilitating potentially lethal measures by the ruling elite, It would basically destroy the legitimacy of the established structure of government.

Yep, there are a lot of opinions such as that on Free Republic, to the effect that if the Republican nominee for an office is not conservative enough, then our colleagues here say they will vote for the Democrat or sit out the election.

And it’s all supposed to teach the GOP a lesson.

My preemptive schadenfreude makes me hope that it passes just in time for President Trump to name 6 new justices on January 20, 2025.

As much disdain as we may have for Manchin, he is the only reason they didn’t do it a year ago. The rats had their commission seated and had the Judges picked but Manchin stopped it by saving the filibuster. DC and PR would be states also. I fear he just bought us a few years.

Joe Manchin of West Virginia, and Kyrstin Sinema of Arizona. They were the two Democrats who held the line and saved the Republic... at least for a time.

Our Republic is fragile. The more lunatics that get elected the more potential there is for decay.
