$100 Million Offer Made to Tucker Carlson for New Broadcast Role
PJ Media ^ | 05/03/2023 | Greg Byrnes

Posted on 05/03/2023 7:41:57 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

On Tuesday, Valuetainment Television made a public $100 million, five-year contract offer to Tucker Carlson, plus ownership shares in the company. Carlson is still under contract to News Corp., however, and his Tucker Carlson Today shows are still in the archive lineup. But his sidelining has created a media feeding frenzy. Newsmax also seems to be in the hunt. Backchannels — and in the case of Valuetainment, a publicity-grabbing front channel — have opened up as media companies hope to steal market share on the Right from the Fox News Channel.

When Tucker Carlson Tonight was canceled by the Fox News Channel, the outspoken print and broadcast journalist completed a personal career trifecta. Who else has been kicked to the curb by CNN, MSNBS, and now FNC? Television does make strange bedfellows. It also says a lot about Carlson’s independent streak as a journalist that he has such a diverse group of opponents. He seems to have afflicted the powerful and comforted the afflicted right across the political spectrum.

WABC radio’s James Golden, aka Bo Snerdley, former call screener and friend of the late Rush Limbaugh, said Rush got sick and tired of being fired. After being let go seven times, Limbaugh decided he would never be fired again. Instead, he would own his product and sell it to distributors. Golden thinks Tucker Carlson is a prime candidate to do the same thing.

$100 million may not be that much of an offer, after all. It is in the range of what Carlson is getting now. And he was about to begin new contract talks with Fox. To clean up an old phrase, Carlson already has enough “buzz off” money to live out the rest of his days nicely.

Megyn Kelly interviewed this guy yesterday. He was born in Iran, knows tyranny, and was sincere.

[$100 million may not be that much of an offer]

OK, OK. I’ll do it then. I’ll try to get by on $100 million.

Maybe I can take Nully to Taco Bell.

IF he orders off the $1 menu.

Tucker’s been “neutered” by FNC’s contract, thru the end of 2024. He’ll make out fine, but he’ll miss the GE 2024, unless he does podcasts only. Hope he does.

Contracts can be broken.

All it takes it a good contract lawyer.

Hint: Courts will over-rule contracts if they believe that one party had extraordinary leverage over the other party—de facto duress.

RE: Joe Rogan’s salary

See here:

https://outsider.com/entertainment/joe-rogans-spotify-contract-yearly-salary-how-much-per-episode/

Spotify Contract for Joe Rogan Worth Over $200 Million

According to the New York Times, Rogan was paid over $200 million to go exclusive with Spotify. It was a big commitment from Spotify to Rogan and Rogan to Spotify. With how popular Apple Podcasts is as a podcast app, it was a big commitment for Rogan to only post his podcast on Spotify, even taking his full episodes off of YouTube.

Spotify made their big play for Rogan, according to the Times, because he is such a big-time name and draws that he gives them enough juice to really compete with other stream giants like Apple and Google. The exclusive rights run through 2023, reportedly.

Joe Rogan Makes More Than $75,000 Per Episode

If that $200 million is accurate, that has Rogan making over $75,000 per episode of his podcast. It should be noted that his podcast sits atop the charts in 93 different markets all over the world. Each episode averages reportedly 11 million listeners each episode. When you put that into context the per-episode figure does not jump off the page as much as it may have originally.

Yeah I saw that- I never heard he got $200 mill. A,ways heard or read it was “just” 100 mill. Not much info on whether it is per year or per the contract

I did run across a site that said “per episode” was “around $100,000” so maybe it is per year? I don’t know for sure.

Fox was paying him 10 million. On a 3 year contract.

Yeah I know- laying someone an outrageous amount for what really? Their opinion, which doesn’t amount to a “hill of beans” in the overall scheme of things as they used to say. Nothing Joe (and other pundits) says beneifits the world or nation in any real meaningful way. He basically is just a grievance peddler, stating the obvious, like 50 million others like him

As long as he owns the hosting also, but even with that, leftists have tried to get IT dept’s to block domains as “racist” or “sexist” or “terrorist”.

I’d LIKE to see that happen, and TC get a show, which would easily out-draw the crap FNC network!

I was about to post the exact same thing.

I never watch the boob tube - don't even own one, so I have no idea what Tucker's voice sounds like. I'd love to see him on radio as Rush was, but half or more of Rush's radio appeal was his vocal timbre and cadences. If Tucker can't match that, he should stay off radio.

if he’s got 11 Million listeners daily

CNN, MSNBC and FOX (pre Tucker firing) average a combined viewership of under 4 Million.

So Joe Rogan has nearly 3 times the audience daily that FNC, CNN and MSNBC have nightly combined.
