Leftist students at Syracuse University recently voiced opposition to an event featuring Yeonmi Park, a North Korean defector.
Ahead of the event hosted by the Syracuse College Republicans in partnership with Young America’s Foundation, students destroyed fliers and posted messages critical of Park and the College Republicans in an online forum.
Park, who delivered her speech on Apr. 5, “has criticized concepts like political correctness, trigger warnings and ‘woke culture’ in her career,” according to the student newspaper, The Daily Orange.

Conservative legislatures need to stop funding the universities in their states. We need to start emailing these article to our representatives and demand that they withhold funding until a balance has been returned to education. It will not do much in democrat-controlled states such as NY and California, but at least it would make a difference in republican controlled universities in red states. Each legislative session, these university systems head to the capitol hat in hand to ask for more funding. Meanwhile, they sit on millions in endowments as well as increase tuition year after year. They use tax-payer dollars to fund hate against America. We have to demand that such indoctrination come to a stop.

When are we gonna meet these faux commie twits head-on?
Syracuse is a private school, so the state legislature doesn’t have much say in the matter in this case.
“Syracuse is a private school,”
Thanks for that info, but my rant still applies to state-funded colleges. LOL! Because this foolishness is going on everywhere except Hillsdale (which thankfully is also private).
I never understand how laws work.
Here we have people removing freedom of speech, which is guaranteed by the Constitution. But, since Syracuse is a private institution, government is limited in this matter.
Let’s say the administration at Syracuse decided that the new policy is “We don’t hire negroes”. Well, I think they’d have a problem. You can’t have that policy. The Civil Right Act of 1964 says no such discrimination is allowed. The fact that Syracuse is a private institution does not mean they are exempt from this.
So, on the one hand, a 1964 law has primacy, and no one escapes it. On the other hand the Bill of Rights, in the Constitution, the highest law in the land, is really only operable some of the time, and if you avoid taking federal funds, you can feel free to ignore that pesky document.
The Leftist students seem to believe that their own “right to free speech” includes silencing their opponents’ voices and making sure that they are not free to speak. And this Leftist interpretation seems to be winning the day.
Syracuse does take Federal money, however.
Private and overpriced.
Now.
Alumni need to stop funding the universities they graduated from.
Who are they working for, Little Rocket Man? Really, the presence of the Left in our universities has become disgusting.
Yeonmi Park has said that Campus leftists remind her of North Korean communist party apparatchiks, only worse - because here, they seem to still believe the bullshit.
“In authoritarian North Korea, Buynevich told Campus Reform, tearing Park’s fliers is not an activity that students would be allowed to perform.”
Indeed, as one American visitor to North Korea found out the hard way not so long ago.
That Syracuse has a college Republican club!! 🤓
As the people on the UConn Huskies website, The-Boneyard, Syracuse is called Fruit University.
I think the delineation is “Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of speech”.
One could argue that if Congress made a law that funded a school and that school abridged the freedom of speech, then Congress made a law abridging the freedom of speech.
The CRA of 1964 doesn’t limit its scope to only laws passed by Congress.
Don’t shoot the messenger. I think the Constitution is a dead document that doesn’t provide any protection to our liberty at all. It is used by the left as a weapon to destroy our country and it is pathetically and hopelessly used by the right as a magic spell to try and keep the tyrants away.
The 2nd amendment is not what is protecting your right to own firearms. Your willingness to shoot people who try to take your firearms is what protects your ability to keep them.
The 4th amendment doesn’t protect your right to privacy. Since people don’t care if the government reads all of their emails, texts, DMs, posts, etc... and listens to all of their phone conversations (and private conversations), the government will ignore the 4th and do it anyway. Very soon, the left will convince enough people not to care about owning guns and the 2nd amendment will become as useless as the 4th in protecting your liberty.
We need to move past the reverence for the dead document.
Truth is to leftists’ ears what sunlight is to vampires.
