China has finished three days of military drills around Taiwan, which included "sealing off" the island and simulating targeted strikes.
Taiwan said it had detected jets to its east, while China said its Shandong aircraft carrier had taken part.
Beijing began the exercises on Saturday after Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen met the US House Speaker in California.
After the drills ended, Taiwan's defence ministry said it would not stop strengthening its combat preparedness.

Right, there is no parallel or comparison between Taiwan and Ukraine. Attempts to evoke similarities are made by those who seem to prefer war to peace..

Losing all of Taiwan’s chips would create a depression of a magnitude we’ve never contemplated. And the Chinese know that.
Taiwan has been called the unsinkable aircraft carrier of the Pacific.
Its position is much more than chips and blowing up some chip factories will not solve the disaster if China takes Taiwan.

Depends who you're talking to. If your offshore bank account depends on Ukraine grift, Ukraine is more important. If you are involved with questionable biolabs, Ukraine is more important. If you're stuck in pre 1990 foreign policy, Ukraine is more important. I get your point, but one actual Harpoon missile would do minimal damage to a vessel the size of an aircraft carrier.
BUT is could knock out the CIC or that cats, or render it otherwise combat-ineffective.
The warhead is ‘only’ 500 pounds (488) or so. Designed to penetrate deeply and then detonate.
Torpedoes under the hull might work better; (Mark 48, mod 7s) have a warhead close to 500 pounds. 1/2 the range of a Harpoon though.
And I threat we did to ourselves, thanks to globalism.
