I get your point, but one actual Harpoon missile would do minimal damage to a vessel the size of an aircraft carrier.
BUT is could knock out the CIC or that cats, or render it otherwise combat-ineffective.
The warhead is ‘only’ 500 pounds (488) or so. Designed to penetrate deeply and then detonate.
Torpedoes under the hull might work better; (Mark 48, mod 7s) have a warhead close to 500 pounds. 1/2 the range of a Harpoon though.
