Fired Fauci, yep sure, that’s an unforced error statement from DeSantis..
Well stated.
Sad to have to repeat the obvious, but, a president does not “have the power” to fire a career civil servant with civil service protection. That’s exactly why we have civil service. Fauci was not a political appointee, so neither Trump nor any other president has had authority to fire him.
Even my liberal mom said she hopes Donald and Ron destroy each other because she fears Republican victory in 2024. She sees a Republican president, senate and expanded Republican house without their destruction happening. To use part of the socialist James Carvell’s quote, It’s the democrats stupid.
True and this is the way I feel about Governor DeSantis also. Everyone was going by what the “experts” were telling them and us. How many here knew this was a scam the first couple months or so of Covid 19? Not very many. And if I remember right DeSantis closed the beaches because of spring break and he wanted to discourage people from coming to Florida and possibly creating a super spreader event. I cannot blame him for that!
No, but did he have to continue letting him have control of the governments response to the pandemic? I don’t believe he had to pick Fauci or let him have the control he did. He also didn’t have to follow everything Fauci wanted or recommended.
According to this article, Trump could have removed him from the Covid task force and sent him back to his day job as director of NIAID. Removing him from his NIAID leadership position was a heck of a lot easier when Republicans gained control of the house..

Trump was president util January 20, 2021. During that time, and for a long time after that, I don't recall DeSantis saying that Fauci should be fired.
I couldn’t visit my relatives in Florida because of DeSantis’ 14 day quarantine rule.
DeSantis never once called for Fauci to be fired during that period of time, and for a long time after that.
So he wouldn't have done it either.
From your links.
“on those few businesses outside of the Guidelines”
“spas, beauty salons, tattoo parlors and bowling alleys”
They were only talking the few businesses that couldn’t social distance.
Read more than just headlines.
Had a bizzare infatuation with Chinese made Covid tests.
Surprised light not going on Joey grins.
Rob DeSantis listened to fauci, locked down, and pushed the vaccines heavily. He also got vaccinated himself.
Now he falsely smears Trump over COVID.
Republican voters are beginning to see through Rob DeSantis’ revisionist BS. https://t.co/2fwPeRIfCT— Alex Bruesewitz 🇺🇸 (@alexbruesewitz) March 23, 2023
Recap
Desantis went over and above the guidelines.
Desantis and Levin said 3 weeks ago that Fauci couldn’t have been fired due to federal law and civil service protections.
Now that Desa6 is dropping in the polls he goes to Piers and says he would have fired Fauci.
Once again, Ron DeSantis is not telling the truth.
Trump still has not admitted how much following Fauci harmed this country.
We were being conditioned just as surely as Pavlov’s dog.
Winning should be the goal. So a winnable candidate seems a good idea.
Does he even know he is in the race?
Ron is not a revisionist. He is a re-awakened victim.
Of the lies and horrible advice coming from the Trump admin.
Same as millions of other victims. There is a good chance the FL grand jury will conclude as much. During the primary.
Trump, amazingly, is STILL asleep at the wheel and beholden to BigGovt and BigPharma.
Ron woke up early and corrected course. And is actively working to right these TrumpPharma wrongs. That is why The Delicate Don and his DS swamp pals are so pants-wetting scared of Ron.
Trump taught us that being a popular president at one time doesn't keep your reputation from going down in flames. And the now-hated Bushes were MUCH more popular, at times, than the Don ever was or ever will be.
If Ron begins to play it like Don would, then Ron is bound to make the Bush III analogy when the time is right: an ex-prez previously popular in the party can be a big loser because of 1 gigantic failure which hurt America and killed Americans: in Bush II's case, the failed WMD search.
SuperDon's SwampJab, which he owns entirely, is increasingly clear as his WMD issue. Same pathetic Bush excuses too: ...bad advice from advisers, good intentions, blah, blah, frickin' blah.
Donald J Bush's failure was much more devastating for America and for the world than was Bush II's costly mistake. DJ Bush actually took your money to CREATE his WMD and used it against our people.
Huge failure is huge failure. And the buck knows exactly where to stop.
