Dow futures jump 250 points as regulators announce backstop of SVB depositors: Live updates

Stock futures jumped Sunday evening after regulators announced a plan to backstop all the depositors in failed Silicon Valley Bank and make additional funding available for other banks.

S&P 500 futures gained 1.1% and Nasdaq 100 futures rose 1.2%. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average were up by 265 points.

All Silicon Valley Bank depositors will have access to their money starting Monday, according to a joint statement from the Treasury Department, Federal Reserve and the FDIC.

Makes little sense to me given the economy sucks and there are still a bunch o’banks that are still in trouble and few details are available as to how collapsed banks have been rescued and how many more can be saved. I was watching ES trade at market open this evening for a few hours. It was not high volume. The conspiracy theorist in me thought that trading could easily be manipulated by several Big Banks taking turns trading back and forth. Trust me when I say, banks manipulate markets ALL the time. It’s not beneath them. They would be doing this to give investors some confidence in markets. If they just wanted to profit, they could just as easily short.

The trend us what is important. And since Joe t he pedo took over it has been DOWN. WHen he took office the Dow was nearlly 36,000. It is around 33,000 and has not hit 34,000 since he began.
