A group of California police officers shot and killed a double amputee on Thursday as he tried to run away from them on his stumps after jumping out of his wheelchair.
The three cops from Huntington Park Police Department were filmed firing at least eight shots at Anthony Lowe Jr., a 36-year-old father-of-two.
His family say he lost the lower halves of his legs recently after an altercation with police in Texas.
Lowe Jr. had just stabbed someone unprovoked, according to the police department, and was trying to run away from two officers on Thursday.

They were doing a thorough job.
He did not respond to tasers. He refused to submit, and was armed with a deadly weapon.
He might have been subdued with some sort of net or webbing.
You don't always have all the tools you might wish.
What if they let him alone, and he stabbed someone else?
He was clearly a danger to society.

I have to ask, what kind of training did these officers receive? “Trainee, you need to be especially careful of the ones without legs. They just look weird and they move funny. Shoot first and ask questions later...”
They chased him by walking faster. He was not that big a threat to them.
Maybe they could have aimed for a stump?

All good points. 10+ years ago I read about a ‘gun’ that had this wierd goo in it, shot out like a web to incapacitate the perp. I think the problem with that is what the heck to do with the goo covered POS then? Nothing like a good ‘ol bullet IMHO.
If he had lived he wouldn’t have a leg to stand on in court.

Did you watch the video of 2 cops with guns pointed at him, chasing him as he hobbled away trying to drag his wheelchair? A mentally ill and terrified MAN.
Yes he occasionally turned and brandished a knife at them….to defend himself..,prob figuring they were going to shoot him. As they were trying to taze him. Which they did, 8 times, most or all in the back.
As for the reported stabbing, no medical team or victim in videos. I guess more details today.
