After devastating loss, Stacey Abrams says another run for governor 'likely'

Former Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams indicated on Monday that she would likely mount a third bid for the state's top job.

Speaking in an interview with Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore, Abrams said, "I will likely run again. If at first you don't succeed, try try again. If it doesn't work, you try again," according to The Hill.

Abrams first ran for governor in 2018 against then-Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, but narrowly lost in a close election wherein a victor did not become clear until long after the election had concluded.

Abrams loudly cried voter suppression for four years, alleging that Kemp had used his official role to influence the outcome of his gubernatorial bid. She further brought suit against the state's election integrity laws passed in 2021 amid the controversy surrounding the state's 2020 presidential election results. That effort was unsuccessful.

She fell well shy of victory in her 2022 rematch with Kemp, who greatly expanded on his 2018 margin of victory. Abrams' defeat was further highlighted by Georgia Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock's successful reelection bid.

Reports have since emerged that the Abrams campaign is in considerable debt and has left many of its staff in the lurch amid the financial difficulties. The candidate herself, meanwhile, remains on solid financial footing, having accumulated roughly $3 million in personal wealth, in no small part due to her political celebrity.

As long as some fools are willing to keep her at the trough, why wouldn’t she feed?

Anyone who wants power this bad should be nowhere near it. Not course the founding fathers never envisioned an obese ghettopatamus like this anywhere near the levers of power.

Campaigning is a good gig. Screw winning and being held responsible.

Exactly. This is about keeping the grift going. All she has to do is keep running and scream “racism” and “voter suppression” and there will be plenty of suckers to fill her campaign coffers (which I’m sure she uses for other things). If she didn’t do this, she’d be an “activist” making $50K a year.

By no means an Abrams fan but running after losing elections is not new.

Lincoln lost a number of elections before becoming President. In 1832, he ran for state legislator and lost.* In 1854, he was a candidate for U.S. Senator and lost (he threw his support to Free-Soil Democrat Lyman Trumbull, who became a Republican).* In 1858, he was a candidate for U.S. Senator and lost.Lincoln was also the loser in other political contests, though these are not properly called elections.* In the 1830s, he was twice nominated for Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives by the Whig legislators, but as the Whigs were in the minority, was not chosen either time.* In 1843, he sought the Whig nomination for U.S. Representative, but was passed over at the Sangamon County Whig convention in favor of Edward Baker (who in turn was rejected by the District convention, which chose John Hardin). Note: Illinois was one of 19 states which elected Representatives to the 1843-1844 Congress in early 1843.* In 1849, after much inducement from his friends, Lincoln allowed his name to be suggested for Commissioner of the General Land Office (a Federal post). He became actively interested when Justin Butterfield of Chicago was put forward, feeling that Butterfield did not deserve the post. However, Secretary of the Interior Thomas Ewing chose Butterfield.* In 1856, at the Republican convention, Illinois delegates nominated Lincoln for Vice Presidential candidate; Lincoln was not there and did not request this. He received 110 votes out of 567 on an informal ballot, but 253 went to William Dayton of New Jersey. Dayton was chosen with 520 votes on the formal ballot.Source: Donald, David Herbert (1995) Lincoln

Did she say she will run for governor again or just that she will run for something sometime? The latter would seem more likely. Congress? Senate?

Obviously Jabba the Hut can’t win an election on her own merits. She knows that Big Money will come to her aid and pour millions into her campaign and eventually cause enough citizens to lose their minds and vote for her. After that election, she will set her sights on the presidency.

Partial list of women who want to be president in spite of zero qualifications:
Jabba the Hut, hillary, meghan markle, oprah, moooochelle, ellen de generis, horizontal harris, AOC, kathy hohcul.

As long as she doesn’t make any more Gatorade fit commercials I’m fine.

Yeah I know that wasn’t Stacey Abrams. Stacey is even bigger.
