Things would go really well, at least according to the media and fedgov, until corruption and the failures of bureaucracy could no longer hide all the problems.
Someone will suggest the marvelous and entirely new idea of a private/government relationship. Then we will have a never ending supply of $600 heads of operating system update lettuce from Bill Gates and nothing else.

They tried this and similar quackery in France during the Revolution. They forced bakeries, for example, to sell bread cheaper than the bakeries could purchase flour.
They really thought this would work. What I mean by that, there is some sort of magical thinking going on, “Here, a Miracle happens”.
A similar delusion is going on with “green energy”. They really believe that if they outlaw fossil fuels, oil, gas, and petroleum, that somebody will have to invent something to replace it, or somesuch. This is why no amount of facts, logic, or reason can persuade them they are lunatics. No matter what you carefully explain, the grid, energy density, battery storage, on and on and on...

The one I’m waiting for is for government issued sex workers/partners. There’s already been some calls for it on social media, I’m sure there are white papers written by academics out there advocating it. Can you imagine how messed up a government regulated prostitute would be?
Human nature dictates that the worth we place on a thing is directly proportional to the effort it took to get. In the modern era that typically equates to how it cost to buy. If you give away food (or education) to people who have done nothing to earn it, the value they place on it will be nothing.

“owned by government” That doesn’t need any translation. The first goal of the left is for the collectivity to own all the means of production. That would be communism, but today’s left avoids ever using the word.
They propose that the government should own the means of production of food, and that it should give away the food at no charge to the consumer. Someone has to pay for it. That would be the farmers and the taxpayers: anyone who has a job.
This scheme would force many people to work and to pay for everyone else. But why would they bother going to work? If they quit work they can get free food, TV, housing and medical care. So when the workers realize they can do well by not working, they will stop working. Obviously the production of food stops right there. Now you have the government trying to give away food that it doesn’t have. That won’t work. Food isn’t like money - the government just has to print more money, and voila` more money!
To Chloe Sorvino, who wrote this article. What age of abundance? Those days are over with the marxists who are in control now. The only ones living off the fat of the land are politicians. They seem to be doing well. Hey barack! why not sell one of your 4 mansions and give the money to the foolish people who elected you and lived in hope that you would be their savior?

The ultimate “equity” argument is that attractive people must be scarred and mutilated so that they are “equal” to everybody else.
Food is already free. There are endless free food pantries feeding fat people who simply have to just walk up and ask. We are constantly being asked to donate to them to stave off hunger.

What is really scary is that a whole bunch of people agree that free food from the government is a good idea.
It would end up with more shortages,long lines and empty shelves like on a good day in Soviet Russia. These people are idiots.
