Rep. Alex Mooney, R, W.Va., announced Tuesday that he will run for Senate in 2024 in a bid to unseat Sen. Joe Manchin.

"West Virginia values are at risk in this country. We’re bankrupting America. I want to be a part of the solution there," Mooney said in a radio interview on MetroNews Talkline on Tuesday morning.

"It’s been talked about a lot, but I’m going to announce. I’m announcing it right now that I’m running for the U.S. Senate," Mooney said. "I’m all in.

Middle-of-the-road Manchin, or supposedly a moderate-democrat Manchin...

is a democrat when it matters the most to democrats, but is not a friend to the American people.

Someone working for the good of the American people, would not have voted with Biden and democrats these last few years.

Get rid of him!

He dug his own grave. He will probably switch party soon.

Manchin will either switch parties or go indie, but I don’t think that will save him after voting to shutter coal and natural gas.

We need all red state dem senators to lose in two years starting with Manchin.

Bill Gates drove the gravy boat personally. After the meeting with Bill Gates, Manchin was a cooperative good little flying monkey.

Not enough ... Manchin, for all his folksy blather and drivel, has been Schumer’s catamite from his first day in Washington.

I’m all in for Alex Mooney for Senate.

You posted it before I could. If Walker wins in Georgia I expect Munchie will refuse to caucus with other Senator Democrats.

Good on you, but the last guy who tried - Pat something? - couldn’t blip a sound machine if he jumped on it. Hope Mooney’s got it.

It is a blot on West Virginia that they still have a Democrat senator in this day and age.

We’ll see.
Alex Mooney just got overwhelmingly re-elected to represent our 2nd Congressional district. He does know how to run a campaign.

As for Patrick Morrisey’s loss in 2018 ...

Neither he nor Munchkin got more than 50% of the vote; the Libertarian candidate’s vote total was greater than the difference between Morrisey and Manchin. I think your assessment of that campaign is incorrect, and further note that Morrisey was massively re-elected Attorney General in 2020.

I suspect that the ‘Rats used the Libertarian as a weapon and will probably try to do it again.

I live here.

After a decade as AG, I trust the stench of carpetbagger has diminished significantly.

If Walker wins in Georgia I expect Munchie will refuse to caucus with other Senator Democrats.

Since Democrat control of the Senate is already determined, the time for Manchin to switch parties is now.

If Manchin switches now and Republicans take a 51-49 majority into the lame-duck session, that makes the Georgia run-off important again.

We need the Georgia race to be the fight for the Senate in order to motivate the voters to turn out. I'm afraid they will sit out Walker now that the race is inconsequential. If Republicans go into the run-off with a 51-49 lead, then Georgia will decide if the Senate goes 52-48 for the GOP or goes back to a 50-50 Senate with the Harris tie-breaker.

That should force a huge Georgia turnout, and bring out the big players for Walker.

It would defiantly be in his best interest to switch parties, especially if we can pull out a win with Walker.

“It would defiantly be in his best interest to switch parties, especially if we can pull out a win with Walker.”

Why would anyone shift from a party that can win national elections despite the worst economy most incompetent and evil governance ever recorded in modern times and change instead to a party that cannot steamroll its opponents in the same situation?

One party has control of voting. The other is mostly quislings. Which is better for the defector in the long term?

I’d like to see a rematch. I wanna see Manchin lose. It would give me serious satisfaction to see the dirtbag crushed like a bug in 2024’s Senate race. Of course, he might not stick around for the humiliation.
