Embattled Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) acknowledged over the weekend that casting a vote for Democrat House candidate Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK) may not be the best political decision in her race against Republican challenger Kelly Tshibaka.
Murkowski, who was given her Senate seat by her father 21 years ago, announced Friday she would vote for Democrat Peltola over Republican challenger Sarah Palin to win support from Democrats. Alaska’s ranked choice voting system allows cross-party voting, which ultimately affords Democrat voters the opportunity to vote for Murkowski on the second and third ballots.

Here's how its going to play out:
In Alaska's weighted voting system, you rank each candidate as your first choice, second choice, third choice, etc.
Republicans will vote Kelly Tshibaka as their first choice, Murkowski as their second choice, Kelley as their third choice, and the Dem Chesbro as their fourth choice.
DemocRATs will vote Chesbro as their first choice, Murkowski as their second choice, Kelley as their third choice, and Tshibaka as their fourth choice.
What will happen is Tshibaka will get more votes than Murkowski, but nobody will get over 50% in the first round.
So they go to the second round and compare second choice votes, and Murkowski will have over 50% of the second place votes, and will be declared the winner.
Murkowski will be reelected in spite of garnering fewer first round votes than Tshibaka.

I sincerely hope Republican voters will reward her for that by leaving her off their ballot entirely.
Validates what everyone says about RINOs like her. She will vote for a democrat. They cant wonder why they’re hated by both sides.
Seems to me the solution is for Republicans who want to make sure Murkowski loses to not put her as the second choice then.
